Today we’d like to introduce you to Homicyde
Hi Homicyde, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Well, we’re a death metal band. We started in 2010 as 3 brothers playing drums, bass, and vocals. We needed to fill in the last few roles so after some people came and went we were able to finalize the lineup we have today. We’ve opened for acts like Whitechapel, Carnifex, Signs of the Swarm throughout our existence. We released an album in 2022 called “The Sickening Tales” and last year we dropped our EP “Immortal.” We’re currently filling out 2025 with shows and tours while writing new music in between.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We were young when we started out so we didn’t know exactly how to go about the music landscape. We were basically grabbing any offer thrown our way to get our name out there. We learned some very hard lessons, we’ve lost friends and family along the way, but overall the struggle, we feel, is worth it. Even today. We have members in SC, FL, and MI and communication is one of the biggest challenges we face but we persevere.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We’re just 5 dumb dudes who love death metal and want to write the type of music we want to hear. I guess we’re known for our riffs, blast beats, screams, and ranting about how “they’re my kids, too, Debra.” We’re proud contributors to the almighty Riff City and if you’re at our shows you’ll hear our vocalist (Jacob) end the set by telling the audience to down some glizzies. I guess that is the Homicyde experience in a nut shell.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Comedy movies and tv shows to get us through the day so movie apps. For band stuff, we use messenger apps to stay in contact. TimeTree for scheduling. It comes in handy because not all of us our available all the time so being a forgetful bunch, the app keeps us on task and prevents from double booking or saying yes to something not all of us our available for. For writing we use GuitarPro. And lastly, since we’re in 3 different states we have Google Drive/Dropbox so that everyone has access lyrics, song ideas, and are able to learn material for shows or recording.
