Life & Work with High Ryse

Today we’d like to introduce you to High Ryse.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born in Georgetown SC. My journey in music began when I was around 5. I was banging on everything in the house so my parents got me a drum set. I eventually developed into being the musician for my home church in Georgetown SC at age 10. Once I got to middle school, I earned a spot on the high school Drumline and that opened doors to meet talented individuals across the state. After school, I received a full band scholarship to South Carolina State University where I was a member of the Marching 101 and Bongo Brothers Incorporated. I moved to Columbia and began to network with different recording studios and upcoming artists in the area. Became an ambassador for the A3C (All 3 Coasts) music conference in 2012-present. Still grooming and learning the music business, I landed an opportunity to work with the Rel Carter Culture Tour in 2018. That gave me the chance to show my worth and skillsets while handling different tasks effectively and efficiently. I recently added multi-platinum certification to my resume for my role in promoting a hit record. Music is truly a passion of mine and the creativity that sparks day in and out is what keeps me motivated. I’m an editor in chief for an entrepreneur lifestyle magazine called “The Grind” where we showcase individuals nationwide.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to this point definitely hasn’t been easy. There have been many days of wanting to give up or settle thinking that this may not be for me. But there was a fire that consistently burned and I knew I had a purpose to fill. Don’t be discouraged by No’s because all it takes is one Yes. Often times the biggest struggle is being in our own mind, in our own way.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a music producer, musician, record promoter, marketer, and magazine editor. I do a few other things, but those consume the majority of the time. I’m most proud of setting personal goals for myself and knocking them out of the park. I feel my attention to detail separates me in my field. My ear for music is also a strong point. I can hear different layers/elements to add or remove. Known for getting it done, I thrive on working diligently.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Having an older brother and family members being a part of the band when I was growing up, molded my initial interest to pursue where I am today. Without the direct influence of that, I’m not sure what I’ll be doing.
