Hi Heidi, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi! I’m Heidi, the creator behind Fort Mill Adventures. I’m a stay at home mom of three little ones and I started this page in May 2023 as a fun way to document our outings and share some of the kid-friendly gems I was discovering around town. What began as a creative outlet quickly grew into something more, a trusted resource for other local families looking for things to do, places to explore, and businesses to support.
I’ve always been someone who loves researching the “best kept secrets” in an area, and with young kids, I became passionate about making that information accessible for parents who just want something fun, easy, and age-appropriate to do. Fort Mill Adventures is about celebrating our community, helping families connect, and showcasing the places that make this area special.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not always smooth, but so worth it and I have made sure that it is always “for fun”. One of the biggest challenges has been balancing it all: raising three young kids while building something from the ground up takes an energy, time, and flexibility. There are days where it feels impossible to juggle it all, and imposter syndrome has crept in more times than I’d like to admit. On days like that I press pause and put my family first.
I’ve also had to learn so much behind the scenes, from content creation and editing to growing a social media presence and reaching the right audience – all while making sure my family still comes first. But every time a parent tells me they tried something I posted and their kids had the best time, it reminds me why I started. The learning curve has been steep as someone who never did social media, but incredibly fulfilling.

Fort Mill Adventures is a local guide for families looking for fun, kid-friendly things to do in Fort Mill, Charlotte, and the surrounding areas. I specialize in sharing local events, hidden gems, new openings, and everyday adventures that are perfect for kids and families, all through the lens of a real mom living it. Whether it’s a shaded nature playground, a seasonal festival, or a family-friendly coffee shop, I aim to make planning easier and more fun for busy parents.
I’m most proud of the trust I’ve built in such a short amount of time. I’ve had moms message me saying my page gave them the confidence to get out and explore with their kids, or that I helped them make the most of a weekend they thought they’d be stuck inside. That means the world to me.
What sets me apart is that I’m not just curating content, I’m out there doing it in real time with three little ones in tow while documenting elements moms want to know. Everything I post is tried, tested, and shared from a very real, relatable place. I think people connect with that authenticity and the heart behind it.
