D’lightful D’sserts began two years ago in my home kitchen with a simple mission to share the joy of homemade desserts that bring people together. What started as small batches of bundt cakes, rich pound cakes, and candied apples for family and friends quickly grew into a thriving cottage food business built on creativity, quality, and love.
From the very beginning, I wanted D’lightful D’sserts to be more than just a bakery. It’s a brand dedicated to making sure everyone can enjoy the sweeter side of life. That’s why I’ve expanded my menu to include specialized cakes and gluten-free desserts, ensuring there’s something d’lightful for every palate and dietary need. Each dessert is homemade and handcrafted, made with care and attention to detail to deliver flavor, freshness, moistness, and joy in every bite.
My biggest source of inspiration and strength comes from my husband and business partner, Chef Jimmy Norris, whose culinary expertise and passion for excellence constantly motivate me to push beyond my comfort zone. Together, we’ve built a business that blends our shared love for food, creativity, and community — one dessert at a time.
Over these past two years, D’lightful D’sserts has grown from a dream into a brand recognized for its quality, heart, and innovation. From local markets to custom dessert orders, I’m proud to continue creating treats that remind people to slow down, savor the moment, and enjoy life’s simple sweetness.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like most entrepreneurs, the road hasn’t always been smooth. My journey with D’lightful D’sserts has been filled with both sweet rewards and valuable lessons. One of the biggest challenges has been learning the ins and outs of running a business. Everything from pricing, labeling, and marketing to managing orders and staying compliant with cottage food laws. There’s so much more to running a bakery than just baking, and mastering those details has taken time, patience, and persistence.
Another challenge has been being largely self-educated in baking. My background is actually in healthcare . I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy, so the culinary world was an entirely new path for me. I had to teach myself recipes, techniques, and product development through research, practice, and trial and error. But every challenge became a learning opportunity, and each new skill strengthened my passion and confidence as a baker and business owner. Every obstacle has helped shape D’lightful D’sserts llc into what it is today — a reflection of perseverance, love, and faith in the process.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m proud to say that I’ve been able to build a life around two passions that, in their own ways, both center on care and creativity. By profession, I’m a Respiratory Therapist. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy and have been serving in the healthcare field since 2019. In that role, I’m dedicated to helping patients breathe easier and live healthier lives. It’s a career built on compassion, precision, and purpose . Values that also carry over into my work as a baker and business owner.
Alongside my healthcare career, I am the proud owner of D’LIGHTFUL D’SSERTS LLC.
What truly sets me apart is my ability to balance two careers that both heal and inspire. One through healthcare and the other through baking. I take pride in knowing that whether I’m in a clinical setting or in my kitchen, I’m helping others feel better in some way. Both careers remind me that care, creativity, and connection can take many forms.
I’m most proud of how far I’ve come turning a passion into a growing business while continuing to thrive in my healthcare career.

What matters most to me is simple — God first, and family second. My faith is the foundation of everything I do. God’s guidance has carried me through every challenge and every success, both in my healthcare career and in building D’lightful D’sserts. I truly believe that every opportunity, every lesson, and every bit of growth has come through His grace.
My family is my greatest support system and motivation. They remind me daily why I work hard and stay committed to both of my callings. My dad the late Frank Swygert taught me the importance of hard work and dedication. My husband Chef Jimmy Norris and my 3 children has been my biggest encouragement, inspiring me to dream bigger, stay focused, and always put love into everything I create.
Faith and family keep me grounded, humble, and grateful. They’re the reason I continue to pour my heart into everything I do.
