Today we’d like to introduce you to Corinne & Brandon W..
Hi Corinne & Brandon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Brandon and I met in 2002. We are both from the Bay Area. Our story really begins in the Great Recession in 2008. We lived a summer at the beach in a RV and that’s how we developed our love of RV’ing.
We always wanted to own land and live affordably, it took many years but we ended up with an opportunity to buy an offgrid property and that’s when our lives got really interesting!
We didn’t set out to live off grid but using nature’s resources allows us to save money. This allows us to work on our classic car collection and learn homesteading skills. Brandon and I have a collection of cars that range from the 1960s to our newest which is a 2005 GMC. We even still have our first cars, a 1964 Ford Fairlane and a 1969 Mustang.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a bumpy road dealing with COVID and learning to live offgrid around the same time but nothing we couldn’t handle!
The hardest part is being able to repair things on your own. Many different things can happen at once but it’s important not to get overwhelmed and work on projects as they come.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Corinne is a preschool teacher. She works with children aged 3-5 years old and manages a school site and center staff. She is also a mentor with the local community College, mentoring up and coming teachers in the field.
Brandon is a full time property caretaker. He maintains equipment, the land, and vehicles. He keeps all the old stuff running so we don’t have to purchase new products!
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Youtube and Instagram have allowed us to connect with people who are living the same lifestyle as us. We follow a lot of offgridders, homesteading, and car mechanic accounts to get inspiration and advice from.
