Today we’d like to introduce you to Casey Breitenbach.
Hi Casey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I didn’t start in real estate to “sell houses.” I started because I love homes, I love helping people, and I’m wired to solve problems and get things done.
As a lifetime resident of the Upstate I built my career locally, learned the business the right way, and earned a reputation for being direct, dependable, and willing to do the hard work that most people avoid. My husband Seth is a residential builder. He builds custom homes, spec homes, and investment properties.
Managing investment properties is what led me to start Brighten Real Estate Group (independent brokerage) and become Broker-in-Charge of my own company. Today I lead a small team, manage rentals through ARC Rentals, and we stay rooted in our community through other small projects like The Bright Spot (my office that doubles as an event space) and our nonprofit work with T3C Foundation.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Along the way, I’ve had to work through taking on too much myself and learning to delegate, because when you’re capable it’s easy to just handle everything. Managing multiple businesses means I’m constantly switching hats, and sometimes the systems and back-end have had to catch up to the speed I move. I also carry the emotional weight of clients because I care about the biggest transaction of their life. Growing into leadership has been its own challenge too, balancing team accountability and business ambition while keeping my family and faith priorities in the right place.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Just this past year I have started working with Airbnbs and short-term rentals, and I treat them like hospitality, not just real estate. I was hired and worked the grand opening of the Spartanburg Marriott when it came to town circa 2003, so I learned early that people remember the little things and how a place makes them feel. I have been told I have a creative eye and love the decorating and staging side, but I also care about how a home lives day-to-day for guests. What I’m most proud of is helping create spaces that feel welcoming, look great in photos, and earn the kind of reviews that keep bookings coming.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like best is that Spartanburg is such a melting pot of different people, cultures, and backgrounds. Then you have all of the little suburbs and towns that niche down into even more uniqueness like: Inman, Cowpens, Chesnee, Woodruff, Landrum, etc. The “small towns” that make up Spartanburg all have that close knit “Friday night football lights” and local charm that draws people to move entire lives. Yes, we who remember when Boiling Springs was nothing and complain about traffic but “we” are what made the growth happen by being welcoming and friendly people.
