Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Mills
Hi Brooke, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, my name is Brooke! I’m originally from Maryland, just outside of Washington, D.C. Growing up, my family and I frequently visited Charleston, and I quickly fell in love with this beautiful city. That love led me to choose the College of Charleston for my education. From the moment I arrived, I knew I never wanted to leave. Charleston’s rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant culture captured my heart.
At the College of Charleston, I majored in Marketing but found myself so drawn to real estate that I accidentally earned a minor in it! After graduating, my first job was as a remote marketing coordinator. While I enjoyed the marketing side of things, I realized how much I missed connecting with people in person.
Pursuing my passion, I decided to earn my real estate license. I worked a 9-to-5 during the day and took classes at night, getting licensed at just 23 years old. Starting out in real estate at that age wasn’t easy—most of my friends weren’t buying homes yet! I had to build my database from the ground up, relying on good old-fashioned door-knocking and leveraging the power of social media.
Social media has truly been a game-changer for me. It’s allowed me to connect with people relocating to Charleston, locals searching for their dream home, and even those just visiting and looking for great restaurant recommendations!
I absolutely love real estate because it lets me combine my passion for helping people with my analytical side. I thrive on studying the market, crunching numbers, and guiding clients through one of the biggest milestones in their lives. It’s truly a dream to be part of their journey—and to live and work in a city I adore.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Real estate wasn’t always easy for me! When I first started at 23, most of my friends and peers weren’t in the market to buy homes, and many people were hesitant to work with me because of my age. I had to think outside the box to build my business from the ground up.
I got creative by leveraging social media to connect with people and share valuable insights while also hitting the pavement with door-knocking to introduce myself to potential clients. I knew that to earn people’s trust, I needed to prove my expertise. I poured myself into studying the market, learning its trends and nuances until I knew it like the back of my hand.
I’ve also made it a priority to deeply understand Charleston’s neighborhoods and communities, so I can confidently guide my clients to areas that perfectly match their needs and lifestyle. Over time, this dedication has helped me build credibility, win over clients, and turn challenges into opportunities.
Starting out wasn’t easy, but it taught me the value of hard work, persistence, and a commitment to always putting my clients first.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a real estate agent based in Charleston, South Carolina, and I absolutely love what I do! I specialize in working with first-time homebuyers and clients relocating to this amazing area. Helping people navigate these significant transitions is incredibly rewarding.
One of the things I’m most proud of is helping my first-time buyers achieve their dreams of homeownership, even in a challenging market. It’s an honor to guide them through what can often feel like an overwhelming process and see their excitement when they step into their new home.
I’m also proud of the number of families I’ve been fortunate to help—it’s truly humbling to look back and realize how many lives I’ve been a part of. I strive to make every client feel supported and confident, no matter the circumstances.
What sets me apart is my ability to combine deep market knowledge, analytical expertise, and marketing skills to provide a comprehensive approach to real estate. My analytical mindset allows me to study trends, crunch numbers, and provide my clients with data-driven insights, empowering them to make informed decisions. Additionally, my background in marketing, particularly social media marketing, has been a game-changer. I use innovative strategies to connect with clients, showcase listings, and build a strong network, ensuring my clients’ homes get the attention they deserve.
How do you think about luck?
Luck has certainly played a role in my business, both in positive and challenging ways. On the positive side, I feel incredibly fortunate to have found a career that aligns so perfectly with my passions and skills. Being in Charleston—a city I love—has also been a stroke of luck, as it’s a vibrant and growing market that attracts amazing people from all over the world.
That said, luck alone isn’t enough. When I first started, I didn’t have a built-in network of clients, and I was young, so I had to work hard to overcome those challenges. While luck may have opened some doors, my success has come from a combination of persistence, creativity, and a willingness to adapt.
For example, social media has been a lucky break in some ways, giving me a platform to connect with people I might not have reached otherwise. But it also required strategy and effort to turn those opportunities into actual business.
