Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Cameron
Hi Anna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Thank you for having me! Well, my path to entrepreneurship is more akin to a rollercoaster! My background is in theater and psychology and in 2014 I was scouted and offered to sign with an acting agent in New York City. So, I decided to take a leap of faith. I quit my job and moved to New York with nothing but a suitcase – just like in the movies! The city was everything I had dreamed of, fast-paced, challenging, and filled with endless possibilities. I dove headfirst into auditions, workshops, and bookings and loved every second! The highs were exhilarating, but the lows were rough, as you’d expect in such a competitive industry.
While I was chasing roles and refining my acting skills, I noticed something interesting. My passion for storytelling and connecting with others through characters was beginning to expand beyond acting. I was hired to coach younger actors, helping them prepare for auditions, refine their technique, and present themselves in the best light possible. Around this time I also started to get involved in creative projects that were more behind-the-camera. I learned to design websites and help to grow brands and was able to collaborate with some amazing artists and entrepreneurs.
As I continued to grow both as an actor and a coach, the idea of opening my own studio began to take shape. I wanted to create a space where my creativity could flourish and where I could combine my love for acting, coaching, and branding. But the idea of launching a company in New York, while exciting, felt daunting.
Then, in 2020, life threw everybody a curveball. The global pandemic forced many of us to reconsider our paths, and for me, it became an opportunity to reset and realign while the film industry, and the rest of the world, was shut down. My husband and I made the decision to move to Charleston, with its rich history, charm, and slower pace. It was the perfect place to start our family, and to bring my vision to life. I officially opened my full-service brand studio in 2023.
The studio has since become a center for creativity and brand transcendence. I help creatives and entrepreneurs translate their unique stories into compelling visual identities with logos, brand films, and web design. As a coach, I guide professionals to gain confidence in their presentations and speeches, and I help actors deepen their craft, discover new aspects of their talent, and navigate the industry and auditions with confidence.
The transition from New York to Charleston has allowed me to explore the full spectrum of creativity- both on screen and behind the scenes. And, looking back, it’s clear that every step along the way- from performing to navigating the Big Apple hustle- has prepared me for this incredible chapter where I get to help others tell their own stories in the most authentic and impactful way.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a business fresh out of the pandemic and on the brink of becoming a mom of two definitely felt a little mad! But, I have been fortunate to have the support of my husband and family who believed in me, and clients who have helped spread the word organically so I could start slowly and pace my work.
I’m so thankful to my wonderful family, my clients, and my brilliant collaborator Marly Viviana Photography (check her out @marlyvivianaphotography).
Raising two wonderful babies while following my dreams and starting my own business has been far from easy, but I will be proud to show my children one day that you can do anything if you set your mind to it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Besides brand design and direction, I work as an actress in the film and television industry. I took a bit of a hiatus with the industry shut down and getting into mom-mode, but I have been working again this year both on-screen and through voice over. I most recently was in season 4 of Outer Banks, and Joe Wright’s film “The Woman in the Window” starring Amy Adams. In addition to national commercial spots, you can also see me star as Amy in the thriller “Birthday Girl”, Liv in “Two Percent” alongside Josh Flitter, and co-star in FOX’s The Following and The Detour on TBS. I’m also so excited to have been nominated for Best Actress in a Short Film for “Birthday Girl” in both the International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema in London and the Nice International Film Festival!
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I am still learning every day how to find harmony between my business and family. Being present for my toddler and welcoming a new baby while also starting up a company has been, at times, overwhelming. But, by setting boundaries for myself and my clients, and prioritizing tasks (thank you, Asana!), I have been able to gain momentum and grow my business with manageable stress.
