Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Leidy
Hi Amanda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Photography has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and the only thing I envisioned myself doing for work in life, besides being a mom! After pursuing photography as a hobby for my teen years, I went to college and majored in history, to hopefully combine my love for history, nature, and preservation with photography.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
NO! haha. It has been full of real life learning experiences, many ups and downs, all while meeting incredible individuals along the way. Most of my struggles come from learning as I go. I’ve learned so many skills by being open to anything, and having a humble mindset.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in documentary photography, which can include people, places, animals, and everything in between. My goal is to create art from what is naturally occurring, with minimal or no alteration. Even in the ugly parts of life, there is room to find beauty, and I aim to capture that.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Charleston is absolutely beaming with history, and beauty. Its a world of opportunity, and with so many avenues to discover, literally and figuratively! The city, beach, culture, and art is never boring. However, the traffic does get old, haha
