Today we’d like to introduce you to Meredith Miller.
Hi Meredith, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My interest in esthetics started many years ago, after graduating from Coastal Carolina University with an English degree where I just didn’t feel the pull to continue on that path. While working in the service industry, I was looking for a supplemental income and I was introduced to a tiered marketing skincare brand. That sparked my desire to learn more about the industry as a whole, finally deciding to return to school for esthetics in 2011. After being employed for multiple years, I made the decision in early 2017 to rent a small space and Simply Skin by Meredith Miller was originated. In the almost 10 years since, I’d like to think I’m confident, authentic, and reliable in my practice.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In my career as a self-employed esthetician, it’s not always been roses. Seasons ebb and flow and some years are better than others. I became a mom and had to set a new schedule where working evenings and weekends weren’t an option. I managed to survive Covid times and rocky business decisions. I am at a point now where I feel my career is thriving and developing into more than I could ever imagine thanks to some excellent women surrounding me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am one-third owner of Rooted & Radiant Wellness Collective, located in the heart of Myrtle Beach, SC. My partners, massage therapists, Jenn Thomas and Amanda Owens, and I have worked together for several years, sharing values and passions in our related fields. After an unfortunate displacement in an old location, we decided to jump in head first and build this dream together.
Rooted & Radiant Wellness Collective is founded on therapeutic bodywork and holistic skin services, alongside our roots and love for our community, but we aspire to be so much more than just a spa. Our desire is to be a space for individuals to ditch their outside stresses upon entering, and leave feeling grounded and glowing, relaxed and rejuvenated. In addition to our massage and esthetic services, we are offering art classes, wellness workshops, and more.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
As a far as Myrtle Beach goes, what’s there not to love? I was born here and very much enjoy the beach- it never gets old. I am so fortunate to have a life where my business- that I’ve created for myself- will thrive in the very area that I grew up in.
