Today we’d like to introduce you to Marci Delaney.
Hi marci, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After retiring from the corporate world, I decided to return to Aesthetics School – I was in my 50s – yes, Im old. I had my solo room all ready for business while still in room – paying rent, so I knew I had to complete the necessary hours and pass State Boards. I did that and jumped right in to the deep end. That was 16 years ago come May.
Being a total Spa lover, I knew right away that being a solo practitioner wasn’t going to be enough for me. I wanted to create something that I would want to go to – that was when my spa was truly born. I opened in the Historic River District of the Midlands – hired a massage therapist and began my mission.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Is there every smooth sailing 100% of the time? Only in some fairy tale. Hiring a not only qualified staff, but one that shares your vision is the biggest challenge. No one could ever predict a pandemic. That was a nightmare.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Spa MD?
We are a luxury wellness day spa with a small medical component. We specialize in holistic spa services – caring for mind, body and spirit. I think the biggest thing that sets us apart from others in the industry is that we are relationship driven. I still have some of the same clients that I began with nearly 16 years ago. We offer beautiful skin care products including Remedy RX – our own, carefully created skin care line.
What are your plans for the future?
Our word of the year is “evolve”. We here at Spa MD are continuing to evolve as a business, individually and as a team. The esthetics world is constantly evolving – what an exciting time to be here. We love the opportunity and joy of learning to better meet our patients needs.
