Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Dunbar
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
A little of my story ,
In 2014 i was blessed with my angel baby MASON. Unfortunately when Mason was three months old, he passed away. Mason was so special to me and a lot of other people. I wanted to keep his name alive so I turned my hobby into a business and named it MASONS SWEETS AND TREATS.
I started with selling treats and eventually started selling cakes as well. Seven years later I had Mason’s brother Mataeo.
Mataeo made me see dreams do come true and you have to go after everything you desire. I applied for culinary school, was accepted and now I’m on the road to being a certified chef. Something I’ve always wanted to do but was letting fear stop me! So now I’m working on a pastry line up. I want to share my love for making bread with others. I’ve come up with some dessert that you may have not seen before. So I’m very excited about that.
I have also started putting together dinner parties. Initially I started having these dinner parties to get people who may not know me to try my food and experience the service I would provide if hired to do a private dinner. But over time I have fallen in love with putting these together. I set up a scene or theme and offer a buffet style or a course style meal. We serve drinks and lots of fun. The goal is alway beautiful food and beautiful aesthetics. I first did a trail run with my friends, then I started creating experiences in the Columbia area. My first dinner party i sold 30 tickets. My most recent event I sold 75. So we are slowly but surely growing. I look to create memorable experiences. Fine dining and fun. Food made with love ! I enjoy being a personal chef and catering private dinners for family and friend events. And I’m extremely excited to see what the future holds for MASON’S SWEETS AND EATS!!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not always been a smooth road always. As an entrepreneur there is always ups and downs. Some days or months you are having back to back sells. Some times you have no business for weeks and you have to go back to the drawing board and get creative. It’s never easy but it’s always worth it.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Masons sweets and eats is now a pastry bakery. We sell and specialize in breads , croissants, and a number of pastries and baked goods. We throw dinner parties once a year hoping to change that to twice a year at the least. We offer catering services for baby showers, anniversaries, wedding, any event that you may need food made with love.
