Inspiring Conversations with Dusti McCraw of B.W. Burdette and Son Hardware

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dusti McCraw.

Hi Dusti, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey! Thanks so much for having me. My husband, Connor, and I own Burdette Hardware in Fountain Inn. We’re an independent hardware store with a long legacy — 127 years! Connor’s dad and uncle bought the store from the Burdette family in the 1980’s and owned it together for 30 years. In 2018, we bought the business and starting running the store in Fountain Inn. Just last month, in December 2025, we opened our second location in Gray Court.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We enjoy what we do and have seen amazing growth over the last 8 years! During the Covid pandemic in 2020, supply chain issues were our biggest challenge. Hardware stores were deemed “essential” and we all saw an influx of new customers who were home and had the time to start new projects. We were thankful to remain open when so many other small businesses and restaurants had to close.

We’ve been impressed with B.W. Burdette and Son Hardware, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What makes Burdette’s unique is that we’re truly independent; meaning we aren’t members of a hardware co-op or franchise. This gives us the flexibility to order from different distributors or straight from brands. We currently partner with Orgill and Wallace Hardware Company for most of our products, as well as local venders such at Stewart Farms.

Any big plans?
We just opened our second location in Gray Court, so we are excited to be planning a Grand Opening celebration in Spring 2026. We will have food, face painting, and special deals throughout the store. We can’t wait to meet our new neighbors and show them around the store!
