Inspiring Conversations with Carla Onofrio of The Kneady Cat Books & Gifts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carla Onofrio.

Hi Carla, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I had a vision of a cozy, comfortable book store, a place to enjoy a cup of coffee while browsing the shelves… and with lots of sweat and hard work, my husband (also a business owner) helped me fulfill it.

After fostering several litters of kittens (and adopting some!), it was important to me to involve my favorite animal rescue. I teamed up with Palmetto Animal League and will be donating a portion of my profits to them.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’m happy to say the process of opening and running the store has been quite seamless. Getting my name out there has probably been my biggest struggle, so I’m pleased for the opportunity to share my story here.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I sell used books that are donated to me. I donate a portion of the profits to a local animal rescue.

I pride myself on the cleanliness and organization of the store. It’s bright and welcoming and easy to navigate. And the wide selection of ever-changing gifts makes every visit fun.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Along my journey, I’ve learned that putting in the hard work is very rewarding.

I put a lot of thought into the image I wanted to project with my store, and I feel that with all the renovations we completed and decorating I did I achieved it.
