Inspiring Conversations with Bethany Vivo of Bethany Vivo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bethany Vivo

Bethany, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hi, I’m Bethany Vivo, and I’ve been obsessed with how the human body moves and heals for as long as I can remember. With over 20 years as a soft-tissue therapist, I’ve seen firsthand how everyday movement (or lack thereof!) can shape your overall health. What really fascinates me is how the body adapts—sometimes in ways you don’t even realize—compensating for injuries or hidden instabilities that could be the root cause of your pain.

My journey started at The Swedish Institute College of Health Science in NYC, where I dove deep into the world of body mechanics. Over the years, I’ve mastered a variety of powerful techniques, blending them into a unique, cutting-edge approach that helps my clients break free from pain and move with ease. Because here’s the thing—pain, soreness, or that constant feeling of being “tight” often isn’t just about the spot that hurts. It’s about uncovering the underlying stability issues elsewhere in your body. Together, we’ll track down the true source of your discomfort and create a game plan to get you feeling strong, mobile, and pain-free.

My mission? To help you move better so you can live better—whether that means running, lifting, throwing, or simply playing with your kids without that nagging pain holding you back.

When I’m not helping clients, I love to volunteer in my community as much as possible (I’m new to the Charlotte area, so if you have suggestions, let me know!) I also enjoy working out, traveling, biking, and spending time at home with my husband.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has definitely had its bumps, but every challenge has pushed me toward something greater. Losing my job during the pandemic was a tough wake-up call, but it also made me realize that I wanted to take control of my career and start my own business. One of the hardest parts was leaving behind an amazing team—I had worked alongside incredible professionals, and suddenly, I had to navigate everything on my own.

Starting a business is never easy, but doing it during a pandemic added an extra layer of uncertainty. Just as I was finding my footing, life threw another curveball—I moved to a new state. And then, three years later, I moved again, this time to Charlotte, which meant starting my practice over from scratch once more.

Each transition came with its struggles—building a new client base, establishing trust in a new community, and learning the ins and outs of running a business solo. But despite the challenges, the journey has been incredibly rewarding. Every setback has reinforced my passion for helping people move better and live pain-free, and every new beginning has given me the opportunity to grow, adapt, and refine my approach.

So no, it hasn’t been a smooth road—but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. The struggles have shaped me into the therapist and business owner I am today, and I’m excited to keep building something amazing here in Charlotte!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Who am I?

Hey there! I’m Bethany Vivo, your go-to Human Mechanic. With over 20 years of experience, I’m passionate about health and wellness, and I’m obsessed with breathing resets and gait analysis.

What do I do? What do I specialize in?

I specialize in preventing injuries, mending aches and pains, and boosting sports performance through manual therapy, breathing resets, and functional movement. My mission is to help you be you, only better.

What sets me apart from others?

What makes me unique? I take a full-body approach to your care. Together, we’ll dive deep into your everyday life by assessing exercise routines, ergonomics, and posture. I treat the whole client, not just injuries. After a full assessment and custom hands-on treatment, we’ll develop a game plan for recovery and prevention, including custom movement drills to retrain your body.

What am I most proud of, brand-wise?

I’m incredibly proud of the success stories from my clients. The journey to healing is a two-way street, and together, we’ve found success in the journey. Seeing my clients overcome pain and regain their best selves is the most rewarding part of my work.

What do I want readers to know about my brand, offerings, services, etc.?

I offer personalized sessions that include a full history intake combined with a movement assessment. You can expect a custom set of treatments along with breathing and movement drills to retrain your brain and recharge your body. My goal is to empower you to perform at your highest, most optimal level in life. I also provide virtual sessions, in person in Charlotte and pop-up clinics in NYC.
