Inspiring Conversations with Allison And Bradlee Levan of Curated Thyme

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison And Bradlee Levan

Hi Allison and Bradlee, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Curated Thyme garnered its beginning a long time ago before private chef was ever a thought, it began with one simple question. Why are people suffering so much from food, the presumed sustenance of our physical existence? After both graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, we traveled the East coast, cooking in a wide range of settings. These included various fine dining and farm to table restaurants as well as premier wedding venues outside of NYC and the Three Michelin starred Inn at Little Washington, tucked into the foot hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Along our travels, we were taught the true benefits of a holistic approach to food from sourcing to preparing. These methods, in use, produced a renewal of strength and clarity of mind, and allowed freedom from digestion issues and especially enhanced flavor.
Now we have the privilege of offering to others true quality and nourishment that we once received.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We think one of the greatest struggles has been understanding how to best convey the quality of ingredients and their value beyond the plate, in a country where food abounds in almost every setting.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Curated Thyme?
The core meaning behind our name is that each event is personally designed. We do not have any preset menus for you to select from, but instead we focus on concepts and ingredients as we take our time to curate each menu specifically for your ideal experience.

What sets us apart from the other private/personal chefs in the area is that we source locally sustainable meat and seafood, and produce that is beyond organic. We cook the food in a way that is easier to digest and nourishing to your body. We also focus largely in part on allergies and dietary restrictions. We are using the most high-quality products and transforming them into a delicious experience for our guests.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My advice is to seek out other professionals who run their business’s success based on the value they bring to those whom they serve. An owner who values their employees’ well-being and long-term commitment to the company is foundational to the business’s overall success.

Networking is extremely valuable, especially in the beginning stages of your business. Building that level of trust and familiarity with a customer is a worthwhile investment to your company. Making one-on-one connections and advertising your products or services help to develop your own clientele.
