Hidden Gems: Meet Valencia Henry of VQS Access Health, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Valencia Henry.

Hi Valencia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve been a nurse for over 30 years, completing my DNP (doctorate in nursing practice) in 2016 from West Hartford, CT. I am board certified as a family nurse practioner since 2012. I’ve worked in CT, MA, MD, NC as a heart failure specialist, assistant professor, primary care provider in the community, hospice provider and pain specialist before settling in Myrtle Beach, SC. in 2019. I continued Veteran C&P exams, community care and eventually started my practice, VQS Access Health, LLC in 2022.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. Learning the business side of being an entrepreneur as a medical provider is very arduous. Hiring the right staff to support you is one of the most difficult tasks along with hiring a billing team to facilitate reimbursement from insurance companies. Often you find yourself wearing many hats.

We’ve been impressed with VQS Access Health, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Primary Care Provider for adults 18years of age and up. We provide services to Veteran’s (subcontractor for the VA benefits program), Immigrant Health, Medical Weight loss, MedAesthetics, MAT for substance abuse and Hormone Replacement Therapy. Unlike many of the Health Care Systems in the area, we listen. We provide time for the client. Office visits are timely usually seen within 15 minutes of appointment and an appointment can be made in a week’s notice not 3 months or longer which is the average for this area.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m always looking for new clients, and new ways to support the community, Feel free to reach out via email, phone or in person.
