Today we’d like to introduce you to Tam Dillon
Tam, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey with spirituality began in my mid-teens with a deep curiosity about ancient teachings and divination. I was drawn to Tarot as a tool for self-reflection and clarity. What began as personal exploration grew into a professional practice, where I spent over two decades as a full-time Tarot reader, guiding clients through life’s complexities. I also integrated energy healing into my work, deepening my understanding of the human experience.
Seeking new perspectives, I moved from South Africa to Vietnam and settled in Hanoi, where I opened a Tarot café in the Old Quarter. It became a gathering place for spiritual seekers to explore their inner worlds. This experience showed me the power of creating spaces where people feel understood and supported.
In 2019, I retired from professional readings and completed my mindfulness certification. This marked a shift from giving answers to teaching others how to find them. I published the first edition of The Art of Tarot guidebook to help people read Tarot as a tool for personal growth.
After moving to Vietnam, I pursued certifications in counseling, applied modern psychology, and life and happiness coaching. These qualifications allowed me to combine ancient wisdom with modern psychological insights. In 2020, I moved to the United States to join my husband, whom I met in Hanoi.
In 2021, after years of physical yoga practice, I completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training, which added a new dimension to my work. This inspired the creation of the Yogic Tarot system, blending Tarot wisdom with yogic principles, which I now share through my YouTube Channel and upcoming guidebook.
Today, my self-development coaching integrates mindfulness, Buddhist philosophy, shamanism, Tarot, and yoga. I focus on making spirituality practical and grounded, helping clients build personalized toolboxes to navigate life’s challenges. My mentorship program supports naturally gifted healers in understanding their roles and gifts within a modern context.
My mission is to empower others to take ownership of their personal and spiritual development, moving beyond quick fixes toward meaningful change. Through coaching, mentorship, writing, and free resources, I aim to create a supportive environment for building resilience, clarity, and authentic growth.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
t certainly hasn’t been a smooth road, and the challenges have been as transformative as the successes. One of the deepest challenges was learning to understand and develop my own natural gifts in a world that often denied or feared them. Growing up with innate abilities that didn’t fit into conventional frameworks was isolating. There were no mentors or communities that could help me make sense of my experiences, and I had to navigate a path that felt both powerful and confusing. Embracing these gifts while learning how to use them responsibly required a lot of self-exploration, trial and error, and resilience.
The decision to retire from professional readings in 2019 was another turning point. After over 20 years of guiding clients through Tarot, I realized that my path was shifting from providing answers to teaching others how to find them. Stepping away from a successful practice to pursue a teaching and mentoring role required me to redefine my identity and purpose.
Moving to the United States in 2020 brought its own set of challenges. I had to rebuild my life and my work in a new cultural landscape. Adjusting to a different way of living while maintaining the integrity of my work was difficult, but it pushed me to grow both personally and professionally.
The transition from being seen as a Tarot reader to establishing myself as a self-development coach and mentor was perhaps the most challenging. It required not only a shift in my own mindset but also in how I presented my work to the world. Balancing authenticity with the need to communicate my offerings clearly was a delicate process.
Through it all, the struggles have shaped me into a more resilient and adaptable person. They’ve deepened my understanding of the human experience and enriched the way I guide my clients. Every challenge has ultimately been a lesson, reinforcing my commitment to helping others navigate their own paths with clarity and purpose.
We’ve been impressed with TAM DILLON, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My work centres around self-development coaching and mentorship, with a unique approach that bridges ancient wisdom with modern living. I integrate mindfulness, Buddhist philosophy, shamanism, Tarot, and yoga into my coaching, offering practical tools for navigating life’s challenges. My focus is on making spirituality functional and grounded, helping clients create personalised toolboxes for self-awareness, resilience, and authentic growth.
I specialise in two main areas: self-development coaching for those seeking deeper meaning and fulfillment, and mentorship for naturally gifted healers who are navigating their roles in a modern context.
My self-development coaching helps clients integrate ancient wisdom into everyday life by crafting personalised toolboxes for navigating life’s challenges. I believe that hardship is inevitable, but having the right tools makes all the difference. By combining ancient philosophies with practical techniques, I guide clients in building customised toolboxes that empower them to face life’s complexities with clarity and resilience.
These toolboxes are tailored to each client’s unique needs and circumstances. They include mindfulness practices for emotional regulation, yogic principles for grounding and balance, shamanic techniques for inner exploration, and Tarot as a reflective tool for gaining insight and perspective. I teach clients how to use these tools not as quick fixes but as ongoing practices that promote self-awareness, emotional resilience, and authentic growth.
One of the most distinctive aspects of my work is the Yogic Tarot, a system I developed that blends the wisdom of Tarot with yogic philosophy. Drawing from my background as a Tarot reader and my training in yogic philosophy, the Yogic Tarot offers a unique approach to self-awareness and spiritual growth. It combines the symbolism and reflective power of Tarot with the grounding practices of yoga, helping clients explore their inner worlds with clarity and balance.
I share this system through my official YouTube Channel and my upcoming guidebook, designed to make the Yogic Tarot accessible and practical for both beginners and seasoned practitioners. This system is also integrated into my self-development coaching and mentorship programs, offering clients a unique tool for navigating life’s challenges and deepening their spiritual practices.
My mentorship program is designed for naturally gifted healers who often feel isolated or misunderstood. These individuals are navigating their roles without cultural frameworks or traditions to guide them. I provide a supportive space where they can explore their gifts and purpose without the pressure to fit into predefined roles.
What sets my mentorship apart is my focus on helping these gifted individuals understand their abilities in a modern context. I help them develop a deeper awareness of their gifts, guiding them in using their abilities responsibly and ethically. Through this mentorship, they learn how to navigate their unique paths with confidence and clarity, finding purpose and community without feeling confined to specific traditions.
What sets my work apart is the emphasis on using spirituality as a tool for self-mastery rather than escapism. I believe that spirituality should be practical, not abstract or idealistic. I guide clients in applying these tools to real-life challenges, helping them create sustainable change rather than quick fixes. This approach resonates deeply with those who are ready to do the work and are committed to personal growth.
I am most proud of my ability to make complex spiritual philosophies accessible and relevant to modern life. My coaching is not about imposing a particular belief system but about empowering clients to find their own truth and purpose. I focus on cultivating self-awareness, emotional resilience, and clarity, allowing clients to navigate life’s challenges with confidence and authenticity.
Through the Tam Dillon Academy, I offer a variety of courses, workshops, and one-on-one sessions that guide clients in mastering these tools. I also provide mentorship for gifted healers who feel isolated or misunderstood, helping them find clarity and community without feeling confined to a specific tradition or cultural framework.
I want readers to know that my work is about more than just spiritual guidance; it’s about empowerment. It’s about giving people the tools they need to navigate life with clarity and purpose, helping them build resilience and create meaningful, authentic lives. If you’re ready to explore your potential and take ownership of your personal and spiritual development, my offerings provide a supportive and grounded approach to sustainable growth.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favourite childhood memories is when my brother introduced me to Tarot. I had already been exploring spiritual practices, but the Tarot amplified and expanded on what I had learned. His deck of Tarot cards fascinated me, and he explained that they were more than just pictures—they were symbols of deeper truths and reflections of life’s complexities.
Through him, I learned how to use intuition and symbolism to understand the world in a deeper way. Tarot became a powerful tool that connected all the spiritual concepts I had been exploring. It was a turning point that shaped my journey into spirituality and laid the foundation for the work I do today.
