Hidden Gems: Meet Selena Blackston of BluPrint Digital Media, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Selena Blackston.

Hi Selena, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I didn’t set out to be a media company owner. I was working in corporate America, doing the “safe” thing, but I knew deep down that God was calling me into something greater. It wasn’t a dramatic leap—it was a steady pull. Eventually, I left my job and started small, opening a little vintage boutique in downtown Easley, South Carolina, and later in the Village of West Greenville. I loved it—the creativity, the conversations, the community. But when the pandemic hit, I had to pivot fast.

I moved the store online and discovered that I had a real gift for digital branding and social media strategy. As my online presence grew, Kingdom-minded entrepreneurs around me began to reach out for help. Some already had businesses but lacked an online presence; others had ministries or visions that just needed structure and systems. I started helping them build their brands, manage their content, and launch their digital platforms—and that’s how BluPrint Digital Media was born in 2019.

What began as a boutique turned into a digital agency built on purpose. BluPrint Digital Media became a bridge—helping ministries and Kingdom businesses automate, scale, and reach people online so they could focus on their calling. Over time, that opened unexpected doors for me to serve globally. My family and I now travel back and forth between Central America and Greenville, SC, doing media and ministry work. Through BluPrint, I’ve been able to serve in some of the most impoverished regions, equipping local leaders and helping ministries share their message with excellence and impact.

Today, BluPrint Digital Media isn’t just about marketing—it’s about movement. We help Kingdom leaders build brands that look professional, operate efficiently, and carry the presence of God into the digital world. What started as a step of faith out of corporate America has grown into a global assignment to build, equip, and light the way for others to follow their own BluPrint.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I always say building anything Kingdom-centered means you’re building against resistance. There’s been plenty of struggle along the way — financially, mentally, spiritually, and even technologically. When I left corporate America, I walked away from stability into complete faith. I didn’t have investors or a big team — I had vision and obedience.

There were seasons when sales were inconsistent, when I was doing everything myself — designing, posting, editing, invoicing — and trying to balance family and ministry all at the same time. The digital space changes daily, so there were times I felt like I was constantly having to learn, unlearn, and relearn just to keep up. But every challenge taught me how to build systems that could scale, not just survive.

One of the biggest obstacles was overcoming the “do-it-all” mindset and learning to delegate. I had to stop trying to wear every hat and start trusting others to carry the vision with me. That’s where Cari Sanders comes in. I’ve known Cari for a long time – she was actually right there with me when I had my vintage boutique in downtown Easley and was a photographer at the shop. We both were in a position where we knew we could offer so much more to churches and ministries with our creative talents. So we both put our heads together and “jump started” the plans we created and pushed through the bottleneck that we were both in after the pandemic. We saw evidence of that and a huge increase, so much so that she has now branched out on her own – it was amazing.

I also had to learn how to navigate being a woman of faith in the business world — finding that balance between being strategic and still staying Spirit-led.
And honestly, there have been spiritual battles too. Anytime you’re building something that carries light into dark spaces — media, business, or ministry — warfare comes with the territory. But those challenges also deepened my faith, sharpened my leadership, and gave me the authority to help others through their own process.

So no, it hasn’t been smooth — but it’s been worth every bump. The hard seasons taught me how to build with wisdom, not just excitement, and how to keep moving even when it doesn’t make sense.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about BluPrint Digital Media, LLC?
BluPrint Digital Media is a bilingual digital media and branding agency that helps ministries, nonprofits, and Kingdom-minded entrepreneurs build an online presence with excellence and strategy. We specialize in social media management, ad campaigns, website and CRM development, brand identity design, and video production. But at our core, we do more than create content — we build digital ecosystems that help visionaries grow, automate, and reach people across the globe.

What sets us apart is that we understand both the spiritual and strategic side of business. We don’t just help clients look good online — we help them operate efficiently, scale sustainably, and stay aligned with their God-given mission. Many of our clients come to us overwhelmed by technology, and we help them simplify everything through our Master BluPrint System, an all-in-one CRM hub that automates communication, scheduling, payments, and marketing — so they can focus on what truly matters.

We’re also known for our creativity, integrity, and heart for service. Every design, post, and campaign we create carries purpose. We believe branding should not only represent your business but also reflect your calling. That’s why our team takes time to understand the vision behind each project before we ever touch a logo or a website.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how BluPrint has evolved from a personalized design studio into an international digital agency that opens doors for ministry work, global collaboration, and empowerment. Our work has allowed us to help Kingdom leaders launch podcasts, TV programs, and online academies — many of whom never thought they could reach a worldwide audience.

At the end of the day, I want readers to know this: BluPrint Digital Media isn’t just another marketing agency. We’re Kingdom Builders. We build brands, systems, and stories that last — helping leaders follow their divine BluPrint and leave a digital legacy that impacts generations.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Absolutely — mentorship has been one of the biggest keys to my growth, both personally and professionally. But here’s what I’ve learned: the best mentors aren’t always the ones with the biggest platforms — they’re the ones with proven fruit and consistent character. Early on, I had people come into my life who were not only successful in business but also carried integrity and discernment. God gave me people who could help me steward the call, not just the company.

My advice is simple: be teachable and be intentional. Don’t wait for a mentor to fall out of the sky — seek them out (because most times they are right in front of your face!) , sow into their work, show up in their community, and serve before you ask for something. Most of my best connections didn’t come from fancy networking events — they came from obedience, being in the right room, and showing up consistently when God told me to.

Networking, for me, has never been about collecting contacts — it’s about building Kingdom connections. The right relationships will stretch you, sharpen you, and sometimes even correct you. I’ve met incredible mentors and collaborators through social media, conferences, and faith-based business communities simply by being authentic and sharing what I do with excellence.

So my advice? Honor who you want to learn from, and be someone worth mentoring. When you show up with humility, purpose, and value, you’ll attract the kind of leaders who want to pour into you — not because they have to, but because they see the fire in you.
