Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Threatt.
Hi Sarah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a mother, wife, grandmother, daughter, friend, sister in Christ, and Child of the Most High God. I was born in Canada, raised in New England, and have lived in South Carolina on a 20 acre farm for nearly 20 years now.
I was a child with chronic gastrointestinal issues that were often misdiagnosed. As a young woman I was diagnosed with an auto immune condition and then later diagnosed with irritable bowel disease, chronic inflammation, and high cholesterol. My father had his first heart attack at 40 years old and I had many family members with Alzheimer’s Disease, Cancer, Diabetes, obesity, heart disease, and addiction. At the age of 28, with two small children, I was informed that if I did not “take my life back” I would inevitably lose it. At that moment , I realized I had to shift my path by embracing lifestyle changes and natural remedies. That is where my personal journey to better health and wellness began.
I have been honored to work in various leadership roles and fields. As a young mother I had the fulfilling opportunity to support my family as a small business owner and operated a successful daycare for 14 years. My work and personal life has always been blessed with adults and children with special needs.
I started my career in corporate America , achieved my MBA, and graduated summa cum laude as my children grew. As an executive leader and business consultant in the healthcare field, I implemented process improvements throughout the United States that assisted families, physicians, and hospital systems meet their goals. This work naturally evolved into guiding others on their journey to better health and wellness through education and genuine encouragement, helping them take charge of their own well-being.
I competed as a natural body builder in my 50’s, graduated from the internationally acclaimed Functional Medicine Coaching Academy (FMCA) and am pursing my PhD currently. I earned the NBC-HWC credential, and I am a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach. This credential represents training, education and assessment and serves as the highest obtainable certification in the health & wellness coaching industry.
My passion is to help you heal your body, mind, heart, and soul through clinically proven and biblical based behavioral lifestyle choices.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With the Lord holding my hand every step of the way, I have overcome many health, career, and personal obstacles. Moving and living in South Carolina, alone as a single parent, posed many issues. With God’s divine providence, my being in South Carolina was no accident. I was given many opportunities to better myself and grow, spiritually, emotionally, and financially. Which eventually, left me with this very important ministry and my extremely supportive family and friends.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about HealThy Self Health and Wellness?
HealThy Self Functional Health and Wellness is a faith-rooted health coaching organization that I founded from a place of deep personal experience and an unwavering calling to help others heal. I am Sarah Threatt — a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC), Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach (FMCHC), MBA, natural bodybuilding competitor, and current PhD candidate based in South Carolina. My NBC-HWC credential represents the highest obtainable certification in the health and wellness coaching industry, reflecting rigorous training, education, and formal assessment — and I carry that distinction as a commitment to the people I serve.
HealThy Self was born out of my own story. As a child I battled chronic gastrointestinal issues that were often misdiagnosed. As a young woman I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition, irritable bowel disease, chronic inflammation, and high cholesterol. My father had his first heart attack at 40, and my family has been touched by Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and addiction. At just 28 years old, with two small children, I was told that if I did not take my life back, I would inevitably lose it. That moment changed everything. I made the decision to embrace lifestyle changes and natural remedies, and that personal transformation became the foundation for everything HealThy Self stands for today.
What do you do, and what do you specialize in?
I specialize in functional health and wellness coaching using a root-cause approach. My focus is never on masking symptoms — it is on identifying and addressing the underlying genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that contribute to imbalance and disease in each individual. I look at your entire health history, including food choices, genetics, behaviors, and hormonal shifts as they relate to your whole body, and together we build a personalized, organic, and pliable plan around your unique goals and lifestyle.
My services include one-on-one personalized coaching, support group coaching, chronic disease management, weight management programs, and stress reduction techniques — including mindfulness, prayer, and meditation. I also offer a Healthy Habits Challenge and a free 15-minute virtual consultation for anyone who is ready to take that first step.
Beyond individual coaching, my Board of Directors and I bring the HealThy Self mission on the road through worship, prayer, and speaking events held in churches, community spaces, and wellness gatherings. Together we speak on a wide range of topics — from fad diets and cognitive decline to food dyes and additives, feeding a family on a limited budget, and managing your health through lifestyle choices. We also address whatever health trends are making headline news, so our audiences always leave with timely, practical, and faith-grounded information. Everything I do is client-led — you are in the driver’s seat of your own journey, and I walk beside you every step of the way with expertise, encouragement, and genuine care.
What are you known for? What sets you apart?
What sets HealThy Self apart is something I believe is truly rare — the combination of clinical credibility, lived experience, deep faith, and a heart for people that cannot be manufactured. I graduated from the internationally acclaimed Functional Medicine Coaching Academy (FMCA), a year-long program developed in collaboration with the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) and approved by the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC). On top of that, I hold the NBC-HWC credential — the gold standard in our industry — which means I have met the highest bar of training, education, and assessment available to health and wellness coaches anywhere in the country.
I also bring decades of executive leadership and healthcare consulting experience, having implemented process improvements across hospital systems and physician practices throughout the United States. But more than my credentials, what I believe truly distinguishes me is that I have lived what I teach. I am not coaching from a textbook — I am coaching from a transformed life, and I know firsthand what it takes to make sustainable, meaningful change.
Our road ministry is another dimension of that commitment. My Board of Directors and I travel to bring wellness education directly to communities — weaving together worship, prayer, and real-world health conversations in environments where people feel safe, seen, and inspired. Whether we are speaking on cognitive decline, navigating the grocery store on a tight budget, or unpacking the latest health trends making the news, we meet people exactly where they are.
What are you most proud of, brand-wise?
I am most proud of the fact that HealThy Self is built on a foundation that does not waver — faith. Our tagline, Wellness Rooted in Christ, is not just a brand statement. It is the heartbeat of everything I do. I operate from the truth of 1 Corinthians 6:19 — “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you?” — and that conviction shapes every coaching relationship, every program, and every conversation I have with a client. The integration of clinically proven functional medicine methods with biblical-based behavioral lifestyle principles is something unique to HealThy Self, and I am deeply proud of that identity.
I am also proud of the way our road ministry extends that mission beyond the coaching room. When my Board and I gather a community for an evening of worship, prayer, and health education, we are not just sharing information — we are planting seeds of transformation in the fertile ground of faith.
What do you want readers to know about your brand, offerings, and services?

My coaching is personalized, compassionate, and built for sustainability — not a quick fix, not a one-size-fits-all program, but a real and meaningful journey designed around you.
