Hidden Gems: Meet Roland Thomas of REBORN KREATIONZ

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roland Thomas.

Hi Roland, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story really began in 2017 when I first picked up a camera. Born in 1995 and raised in New York City, I grew up alongside my two siblings in an environment that shaped my perspective, creativity, and drive. Today, I’m also a proud father to two amazing sons, which adds even more purpose behind everything I do.
At the time, I was just learning the basics—testing things out, making mistakes, and figuring out what worked. I leaned heavily on YouTube and online resources to teach myself what I didn’t know, spending countless hours studying and practicing.
The journey wasn’t easy. There were plenty of setbacks and moments where things didn’t go as planned, but I kept pushing forward. Over time, the camera became more than just a tool—it became a way for me to express myself and tell stories that mattered.
That process shaped who I am today. It taught me resilience, patience, and how to approach challenges head-on without giving up. Now, every time I pick up a camera, I’m not just capturing moments—I’m bringing stories to life through everything I’ve learned along the way—for myself, my family, and everyone who trusts me to tell their story.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—honestly, the path to success never really is. There have been a lot of challenges along the way that tested me, both personally and professionally.

Even from the very beginning, I faced challenges. Coming in as a newcomer with limited experience, I had to put in the time to really learn my craft. There were moments of doubt, mistakes, and growing pains, but each one pushed me to get better.

One of the biggest moments came in 2024 when my family experienced a house fire. We lost the majority of our belongings, and I lost about 80% of my business equipment. That was a heavy setback, but by the grace of God, we made it out alive—and that’s what mattered most. That experience shifted my perspective and reminded me what’s truly important.

Through it all, I’ve learned that you have to fall in love with the process—the ups, the downs, and everything in between. That mindset is what kept me going, and it’s what helped me grow into where I am today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about REBORN KREATIONZ?
At the core of my business, RebornKreationz is built on storytelling. We specialize in photography and videography that captures real emotion, genuine connection, and the moments that matter most—whether that’s weddings, engagements, portraits, or live events.

What we’re known for is creating more than just visuals—we create experiences. Our approach is very intentional and people-focused. We don’t just show up and shoot; we guide, direct when needed, and also know when to step back and let real moments unfold naturally. That balance allows us to deliver work that feels authentic, cinematic, and timeless.

What sets us apart is our ability to blend emotion with storytelling. Anyone can take a photo or record video, but not everyone can make you *feel* something when you look back at it. We focus on capturing energy, reactions, and the in-between moments that often go unnoticed but mean the most.

We also take pride in professionalism and consistency. From communication to delivery, we aim to give every client a smooth, high-quality experience. Fast turnaround times, strong attention to detail, and clear vision are all part of what we bring to the table.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how RebornKreationz represents growth, resilience, and purpose. The name itself stands for transformation—turning moments into something lasting and meaningful. Everything we create reflects that mindset.

What I want people to know is this: when you book with us, you’re not just hiring someone with a camera—you’re investing in a team that genuinely cares about your story. Our goal is to make sure your moments are captured in a way that you can relive them for years to come, exactly how they felt in real time.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I believe risk is a necessary part of growth. If you’re not willing to take risks, it’s hard to evolve, especially in a creative field like this. For me, risk isn’t about being reckless—it’s about betting on yourself, even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed.

The biggest risk I’ve taken is choosing to stay self-employed, now going on five years. There’s no guaranteed paycheck, no safety net—just consistency, faith, and the work I’m willing to put in every day. That comes with pressure, uncertainty, and moments where things feel unpredictable, but it also comes with freedom and purpose.

I’ve also taken risks by reinvesting into my business, pushing my prices, stepping into new markets, and continuing forward even after major setbacks. After losing a large portion of my equipment in 2024, I still chose to rebuild instead of stepping away—that in itself was a risk.

My perspective on risk is simple: you have to trust your vision enough to see it through. Not every risk will pay off immediately, but every one will teach you something. And over time, those lessons build the foundation for where you’re trying to go.

At the end of the day, I’d rather take the risk and grow than play it safe and stay the same.
