Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Musap.
Hi Nicole , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I didn’t take a traditional path to where I am today. I’ve always been entrepreneurial at heart and spent years working in different areas like marketing, health coaching, and business consulting. A lot of my work has always been centered around people…understanding them, helping them grow, and creating meaningful connections. But behind the scenes, I was also navigating some really challenging seasons in my personal life, including divorce, growing financial pressures, and rebuilding from the ground up as a single mom of three.
There came a point where I knew I needed something more stable, scalable, and aligned with the kind of life I wanted to create for myself and my kids. I fully surrendered to God to show me a path, and that’s what led me to Two Maids. At first glance, it might seem like a simple cleaning business, but to me, it’s so much more than that. It’s about giving people their time back, helping them feel better in their own space, and creating a home that feels calm instead of overwhelming.
Starting this business hasn’t been easy. Like many small business owners, I’ve had to learn everything quickly…hiring, training, marketing, operations, and navigating the ups and downs that come with building something brand new. There have been moments where it felt overwhelming, especially balancing motherhood and business ownership, but I’ve stayed committed to growing something meaningful.
What makes this journey special to me is that it’s not just about building a business, it’s about building something that supports my family, creates jobs for others, and serves my community in a real way. We’re still the new crew in town, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come and excited about where Two Maids is going.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting and growing a business while being a single mom of three comes with a unique kind of pressure. There’s no real off switch! I’m balancing running a company, managing a team, and still being fully present for my kids and their schedules.
One of the biggest challenges has been staffing and retention. This industry has a high turnover rate, so I’ve had to learn quickly how to hire the right people, train effectively, and build a team culture that people actually want to be a part of. There have been moments where I’ve invested time into training, only to have someone quit days later. That can be discouraging, but it’s also forced me to get better at leadership, communication, and setting clear expectations.
Financial pressure has also been a real part of the journey. In the early stages, you’re putting everything into the business without immediate return, and that can feel unstable at times. I’ve had to stay disciplined, make smart decisions, and trust the long-term vision even when things felt uncertain.
Beyond the logistics, there’s also the mental side of entrepreneurship. When you’re responsible for both your team and your customers, it can feel like you’re constantly trying to keep everyone happy. Learning how to manage that pressure, set boundaries, and not take everything personally has been a big area of growth for me.
Overall, the challenges have pushed me to grow faster than I probably would have otherwise. It hasn’t been easy, but it’s made me more resilient, more focused, and more committed to building something that lasts.
We’ve been impressed with Two Maids of Summerville, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At its core, my business is about so much more than just cleaning homes. It’s about helping people feel better in their everyday lives. We provide professional residential cleaning services in the Summerville area, including recurring maintenance cleans, deep cleans, and move-in/move-out services. But what really sets us apart is how we approach the work.
I’ve spent years working closely with people in different capacities, so I understand how much your environment affects how you feel day to day. There’s a real connection between mental health and the state of your home. When a space feels cluttered or out of control, it can create stress and make everything else feel heavier. That’s why we approach every home without judgment and with the goal of creating a space that feels calm, reset, and manageable again.
I’m very proud of the culture we’re building. This isn’t just a cleaning service, it’s a team of people who genuinely care about doing a good job and treating clients with respect. We focus heavily on communication, consistency, and showing up for our customers in a way that builds trust over time. We also like to have fun! Whether that’s creating silly TikToks or just keeping the energy light and positive throughout the day, I truly believe happy cleaners make happy customers, and the energy our team brings into a home makes a real difference in the final result.
We also operate with a level of professionalism that people don’t always expect in this industry. We’re licensed, bonded, and insured, we use a structured pricing model so customers know what to expect, and we prioritize reliability…showing up when we say we will and standing behind our work.
At the same time, we keep things human. We’re in people’s homes, in their real lives, and we don’t take that lightly. Whether someone is maintaining a busy household, going through a stressful season, or just needs support staying on top of things, we want them to feel comfortable calling us.
If there’s one thing I’d want readers to know, it’s that we’re not here to judge, we’re here to help. And we take that seriously.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I think the industry is going to continue growing, especially as people become busier and more willing to outsource things that reduce stress in their day-to-day lives. There’s been a noticeable shift already. Cleaning services are no longer seen as a luxury, but more of a practical way for families, professionals and individuals to stay on top of their homes without feeling overwhelmed.
I also think we’re going to see a higher expectation around professionalism and consistency. Customers want reliability, clear communication and a level of service that feels structured and trustworthy, not just someone showing up to clean. Companies that can deliver that consistently will stand out.
Another big shift is transparency in pricing and services. People want to understand exactly what they’re paying for, and they want flexibility depending on their needs. That’s something I think will continue to evolve.
On the marketing side, I think businesses that show personality and build real connection with their audience will win. Social media has changed how people choose who they trust, and being relatable, consistent and visible makes a big difference. That’s something we’ve leaned into with things like TikTok and more behind-the-scenes content.
Overall, I think the industry is moving toward a more elevated, customer-focused experience. It’s not just about cleaning a home, it’s about providing a service people can rely on and feel good about bringing into their space.
