Hidden Gems: Meet Laurin Legare of Emerald Digital Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laurin Legare

Hi Laurin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey into branding and digital marketing wasn’t traditional. I didn’t start in marketing; I started as an entrepreneur, figuring out how to get people to notice, trust, and engage with my businesses.

Like many founders, I had no roadmap for marketing. I wasn’t handed a playbook—I had to test, learn, and adapt. Through trial, error, and relentless research, I mastered the art of brand identity, storytelling, and digital visibility. I learned that a strong brand isn’t just about visuals—it’s about how people feel when they interact with your business.

Co-founding a food business gave me firsthand insight into what it takes to stand out in a competitive industry, especially in spaces where word-of-mouth alone isn’t enough. I saw how strategic branding and digital marketing could completely change the trajectory of a business—not just attracting customers, but building a loyal community.

That realization led to Emerald Digital Co. I knew that so many founder-led businesses were exceptional at what they did but struggled to translate their expertise into a brand that captured attention and inspired action. I wanted to bridge that gap, helping businesses not just exist online, but become the go-to names in their industry.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey has been anything but smooth As a dreamer, you often have a vision that others can’t see yet—you get labeled as crazy, rebellious, or unrealistic. But I’ve always known what I wanted, and I’ve fought tooth and nail to bring my ideas to life.

I’ve failed more times than I’d like to admit, but I’ve learned that failure is just part of the process. Each setback has been a lesson that’s made me stronger, smarter, and more resilient. True entrepreneurs aren’t the ones who never fail—they’re the ones who fail fast, pivot quickly, and keep going until they find what works. Every challenge I’ve faced has only reinforced my belief that if you trust your vision, stay adaptable, and refuse to give up, success is inevitable.

I’m most proud of the way Emerald Digital Co. has helped brands go from hidden gems to industry-recognized names. My clients have landed press features, booked sold-out events, secured brand collaborations, and gained the credibility they’ve always deserved—simply by refining how they show up in the digital space.

Through brand strategy consulting, content creation, and marketing support, I help founders build brands that aren’t just seen—but remembered.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
One of the best things about Charleston is its vibrant food scene. Since so much of my work is in the food and beverage industry, I get a firsthand look at some of the most incredible places to dine and sip. The culinary culture here is unmatched, and I love seeing the innovation and passion that chefs and restaurateurs bring to the table.

Charleston is growing fast—maybe a little too fast. As someone born and raised here, it’s tough to see how quickly things are changing. While growth brings new opportunities, it also means we’re losing some of the charm and character that made Charleston feel so special. There’s a balance between progress and preservation, and I just hope we don’t lose the essence of what makes this city so unique.
