Hidden Gems: Meet Kim Fohrd of Sideline Cowboy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Fohrd

Hi Kim, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up sports was always a part of my life – from playing them to going to games and watching them with family and friends.

This passion turned into working in the professional sports industry out of college. Gameday outfits became fashion shows and away games turned into watch parties and road trips.

From this came Sideline Cowboy. A lifestyle hat brand to help bring southern style to gamedays in Buffalo and beyond.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Once the idea came into my mind I hit the ground running without looking back. I didn’t run into any obstacles, but the time it takes to create a brand identity before launching a business is a majority of the work.

We’ve been impressed with Sideline Cowboy, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We’re a lifestyle brand with the goal of helping fans make sporting events feel cowboy chic.

We currently specialize in making hats, and even have a custom shop so you’re able to add a personalized touch to them if you’d like. As we’re based in Buffalo – the number 17 is a fan favorite customization.

To go along with the hats, we put together gameday outfit ideas – from the casual fan, to those who wish to dress more elevated.

We also have drink recipes and music playlists to help round out the gameday experience, whether you’re tailgating at the stadium or having a watch party at home.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If you have an idea that you are passionate about, don’t let anyone tell you that your dreams and aspirations are too crazy.

Listen to the people who are in your corner and lean on them for guidance (& perhaps a photoshoot for content)
