Hi Kaneesha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
So I taught myself how to braid at the age of 8 by practicing on Barbie dolls. I then began to practice on myself and just never stopped learning how to style my own hair. What really motivated me most was leaving the salon frustrated even as a little girl. I let my frustration motivate me to learn how to enhance my own beauty and confidence.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not! Definitely more good days than bad, but definitely not smooth. Some struggles I faced was financial literacy, time management, trusting myself 100% and failure. I now understand that saving for a rainy day as an entrepreneur is extremely important. Time management is more valuable than the number of clients you can take in a day. I also learned you can never go wrong trusting yourself 100% and failure is all about perspective. I learned to pivot and adjust and view it as a lesson and not a loss.
We’ve been impressed with My business is titled as Elite Beauty Image, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
People should know that Elite Beauty Image strives to provide an Elite experience through customer service, comfortability, relaxation, and satisfaction. I specialize in natural, healthy hair, nails, and lash clusters. I feel that I am most known for my braiding, silk press, and nail services. What sets me a part from other brands is the integrity and authenticity provided inside and outside of the salon. I am most proud of my resilience. The industry can be very intimidating especially when you are knocked down. It’s important to lock in on your why and keep going.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
God definitely deserves number one credit! My family are also my biggest supporters. They have never given up on me even when I wanted too. I would also like to give credit to all my good friends who constantly advocate for me even in rooms I’ am not present in. Much credit is also given to anyone who has liked, shared or referred others.
