Today we’d like to introduce you to Justice Martin.
Hi Justice, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Many people would assume I always dreamed of being a business owner, but honestly, my journey started in the classroom. Before founding PJ’s Dream Center, I was a high school English teacher, and my classroom became a safe space where students could be themselves, decompress, and come up for air during the school day. Looking back, PJ’s Dream Center is really that same classroom on a larger scale.
What brought me here was chasing my own dream. In 2022, I made the difficult decision to resign from teaching to pursue filmmaking. Before I left, I showed my students a short film I created and informed that if they believed in it, I was going to take a leap of faith and follow my dream. The last thing I told them was that I was going to make it to Los Angeles.
As I pursued filmmaking, I began to see a need in Rock Hill for a place where young people could dream bigger, explore their creativity, and discover who they are. PJ’s Dream Center was born from that vision. It exists to help students find their voice, pursue their passions, and get close enough to touch their dreams. In many ways, building PJ’s has allowed me to continue chasing my own dream while creating a space where others can do the same.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, but I believe in the intersection of faith, belief in God, belief in yourself, and the willingness to take risks. Building PJ’s Dream Center has taken me through every emotion imaginable such as excitement, fear, doubt, joy, and gratitude. Through it all, I’ve remained committed to the vision that was given to me.
If I had to name the biggest challenge, it would be helping others see what you see. When you’re building something that doesn’t exist yet, not everyone can envision it the way you do. Finding the right people who believe in the vision can sometimes make what should feel like a mountaintop moment feel more like a valley. However, I’ve learned that every challenge has strengthened my faith, sharpened my purpose, and reminded me why PJ’s Dream Center exists in the first place.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
PJ’s Dream Center is a creative enrichment and academic hub where students learn, create, and grow. We specialize in helping young people discover who they are through creativity, leadership, and education. Our programs include creative career exploration in areas such as filmmaking, acting, music production, singing/songwriting, content creation, and other creative industries, alongside results-driven tutoring, after-school programming, and summer camps.
What makes PJ’s different is that we’re not just another tutoring center or enrichment program. Parents often have to go through three or four different providers to access academic support, creative opportunities, mentorship, and leadership development. At PJ’s, we bring all of those experiences together under one roof. We were intentionally designed to serve the whole student, not just their academic needs, but their creativity, confidence, character, and sense of belonging.
Everything we do is student-centered and student-driven. We want young people to have a place where they feel seen, heard, and valued. A place where they can find their voice, explore their passions, and learn the importance of being authentically themselves while developing into leaders with strong moral character in a world full of influence and distractions.
What I’m most proud of is that PJ’s Dream Center was built with creativity at its core. While technology can be a great tool, we believe some of the best ideas still come from imagination, wisdom, discernment, and genuine human connection. Our goal is not to replace creativity, but to cultivate it. At PJ’s, we want every student to leave believing that their voice matters, their dreams are possible, and they are capable of making a meaningful impact on the world around them.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is creating stories and acting out scenes with my Bratz dolls. I could spend hours building worlds, developing characters, and bringing my ideas to life through imagination. I was always comfortable playing by myself and never needed a crowd to be creative. Looking back, those moments taught me how to think independently, trust my ideas, and create something from nothing. In many ways, those childhood play sessions were the beginning of the entrepreneur, storyteller, and creative leader I am today.
