Hidden Gems: Meet Joey Propato of Daily Cafe HHI

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joey Propato

Hi Joey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born on November 29 1977 in Philadelphia, my parents emigrated from Southern Italy in 1973. I also have 2 other brothers. After several years of hard work my parents were finally able to save enough money to move out of Philadelphia and relocate to the suburbs of bucks county Pennsylvania, where i attended the local catholic high school. It is also where I met my wife Landa , we are blessed with 2 wonderful children, our daughter Emilia who attends university and our son who is currently a sophomore in high school. . We visited Hilton Head for the 1st time in 2007 and immediately fell in love, I knew at that moment some day it would be home, we currently call it our second home until our son graduates school. In late summer of 2024 I was blessed to have the opportunity to acquire Daily Cafe it has been great, I am meeting alot of people and feel many more great things will be happening as my story continues….

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In life there are always obstacles and challenges, I believe the key to success is to believe in yourself and what you have set out to achieve, never give up. It’s so important to pick yourself up when you get knocked down by life and keep moving forward. I think those two things are what keeps me going. Nay sayers only add fuel to my desire to succeed.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Daily Cafe is a special place, it’s the serenity of the location that drove me to aquire the business, there’s no other way to describe walking into work and having such a beautiful setting in the backdrop, it may sound cliche but it’s magical. Daily Cafe Is a fairly young business and taking it to the next level is what I enjoy most. I believe what will set Daily Cafe apart from others is by starting to introduce authentic italian made products, I have been inspired by many italian cafés while traveling to Italy visiting family. I felt I needed to bring that flavor and authenticity to Daily Cafe. I’d like to believe Shelter Cove will be a small version of Sorrento. Why not..

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I’ve had plenty of favorite childhood memories it’s hard to pick one. But I would have to say my favorite was gathering on Sundays with all of my cousins to enjoy dinners at my grandparents home. The simple things , being with the ones you love. That’s what stands out the most during my childhood.
