Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeska Keenan.
Hi Jeska, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I found my way into the beauty industry through movement & glam.
The line for lashes & glam started early-making sure every face was flawless before we hit the floor.
I grew up in competitive cheer, dance, & gymnastics. Eventually, friends started coming over to my house before school every morning for a “touch of glam”. We were the 90’s kids who flat- ironed our hair on the floor with an actual iron and burned our eyeliner tips with a lighter. Good times, baed decisions. So I guess you could say my first “studio” was my very own bedroom.
I loved the feeling of making my friends feel confident. – Meanwhile, I was the girl going to school in jeans & a hoodie with the messy bun & bare faced.
Then one day in true dramatic fashion I knew exactly who I was becoming and what I wanted to be.
A) Become a back up dancer for Britney Spears #teambritneyforever
B) Become her makeup artist & slay her face backstage
There was no C! haha So this had to work!
I KNEW I wanted to be part of something BIG. CREATIVE and POWERFUL.
I’ve been in the beauty industry for over 15 years now.
Today SKINSCAPE is known for their customized skincare treatmements that feel like rituals, efficient full body waxing, next-level airbrush tanning, and of course all things glam, I am a Master Spray tan Artist. I exclusively use South Seas – The official brand sponsor of Dancing With The Stars since season ONE. I have been published several times and there is just something about seeing your work come to life and your name in PRINT 🙂
I love teaching, weather its makeup tips in my chair or skin hacks on my table. Education, authenticity, integrity -and above all inclusivity form the foundation of SKINSCAPE.
At the heart of it, my work, (my gift) is helping people feel seen, powerful, & unapologetically themselves.
And THAT, my friends, is my WHY!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh, completely smooth…like running a marathon barefoot through broken glass. HA!
It definitely has NOT been easy. Growth came through pressure- high expectations, multiple hats & job titles, LOOOONG hours, and learning in real time. Being a veteran in this industry I’ve seen a lot of changes and evolution occur. So, adaptability & constantly learning are a few of my secret weapons.
Here are 5 of my professional “insider secrets” to survive!
1) PEOPLE REVEAL THEMSELVES UNDER PRESSURE
: Conflict shows who’s reliable, who communicates clearly, and who values your time. It teaches you to set boundaries and trust. your instincts when building your team or client base.
2) CLEAR COMMUNICATION IS EVERYTHING
: Misunderstandings can cost time, money, and relationships. Being upfront about expectations, services, pricing, & schedules- avoids frustration before it starts.
3) YOUR REPUTATION IS PRICELESS
: Word of Mouth and repeat clients matter more than any flashy ad or social media post. Every interaction – good or bad- leaves a mark, so handle mistakes gracefully & professionally.
4) ADAPTABILITY IS SURIVAL
: Learning to pivot quickly, solve problems creatively, while staying calm under pressure will be your only safety raft.
5) SELF-WORTH IS NON NEGOTIABLE
: Whether negotiating with vendors, clients, team members, you learn that undervaluing your skills only leads to burnout. Knowing your worth sets the standard. Collaborations are my favorite form of creating art with likeminded artists.
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but every pivot taught me adaptability, patience, and the importance of being intentional and authentic in everything I create and with every person I meet.
We’ve been impressed with SKINSCAPE, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
With over 15 years in the industry, SKINSCAPE specializes in SKIN, TAN, GLAM, & WAX.
Do you want to know what sets me apart?
It’s the depth of personalization and intentionality I provide for everyone and every treatment.
I slow things down. I don’t believe in copy-and-paste treatments, or surface level connections. Every treatment becomes a ritual ( yes even my waxing babes) We start with skin. We end with feeling SEEN!
My work lives at the intersections of listening, treating, teaching, & sometimes just holding space – It ALL matters. Faces are the canvas. People are the point. Education is woven into everything I do. I am just as passionate about teaching you why something works as I am about delivering the treatment itself.
Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to work over 300 fashion shows, travel all over, lead huge teams of artists from all over the world at NYFW + Miami Swim Week + LAFW as the Key Makeup Artist & production team member. I’ve been published in VOGUE online & more. Those experiences helped refine my craft & stay humble. It taught me discipline, adaptability, and trust in my own instincts.
But, Honey! Owning a business taught me boundaries!
( and that no one reads anything haha )
This year, SkinScape celebrates 13 YEARS and we have grown into something I’m incredibly proud of!

New Client Advisory:
+ Genuine connection may occur.
+ Here for your glow…and your drama.
+ I fix faces,,,, and. maybe your life.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I loved sitting at my mom’s vanity as a kid, exploring her neatly organized drawers of ALL THE MAKEUP THINGS. I experimented with mixing colors (bc duh, so fun!) Seated in front of me is her tri-fold mirror with lights that shifted from warm to cool to natural. I was learning about color theory & lighting without even realizing it. That is when I fell HARD for the art of color, creativity- but even more, the ritual of transforming.
Fun Fact: I was ONLY allowed to wear makeup for dance recitals and cheerleading competitions until the age of 10 or 12. Even then performance (movement) was the muse. FINALLY, my Mom enrolled me in professional makeup lessons, teaching me early that knowledge & skill comes with responsibility. Explains why I intentionally over educate anyone who sits in my makeup chair. ( whether you ask or not-just a healthy habit )
