Hi Jennifer, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Design has always been a top interest of mine. As a young girl, I remember eagerly awaiting the mail to devour the latest magazine issue from Pottery Barn. As a young adult, I moved to New York City with a career in Corporate Communications. In Manhattan, I was surrounded by style and had access to window shop some of the most iconic interior design stores in the world. Five years later and living in my first home in Austin, I began designing concepts and mood boards for my friends at no charge. My husband and I had turned a 1,100 square foot studio loft into a 2 bed/2 bath which garnered questions and affirmations from friends who came to visit. I considered interior design a dream job at the time and officially made the career change in early 2024. I wrote a list of tasks I knew I’d need to complete to start a business designing full time and worked every day to check every line item off to make my dream a reality!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Accepting being new at something and being willing to fall down or “fail” was the most difficult obstacle. I’m a believer in manifesting your future and am highly driven towards progress, so the only thing standing between myself and my business was discomfort at first. Everything else falls into place when you invest your time into it.
