Hi Ivey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey with makeup started as a passion when I was young. I was self-taught at first, practicing on myself and friends in school. Over time, that passion grew into a career. I became a licensed esthetician, attended cosmetology school, and participated in multiple masterclasses to refine my skills. I specialize in soft glam bridal and event makeup, with a strong focus on skincare to ensure every look starts with a great base.
Recently, I rebranded my business to “Lindan Ivey,” a name inspired by my parents, as a tribute to family and my roots. Along the way, I’ve built a reputation for attention to detail, a calming presence, and creating personal connections with my clients. My goal has always been to help people feel their best and to be part of their special moments, which has made this journey so fulfilling.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but every challenge has shaped me and my business. Early on, being self-taught meant a lot of trial and error, and I had to build my skills and confidence from scratch. Starting out, I didn’t have a big budget for products or tools, so I had to get creative with what I had.
Building a client base took time, and learning how to run the business side (marketing, scheduling, and finances) was a steep learning curve. There were also moments of self-doubt, wondering if I was good enough to compete in an industry with so much talent.
But each obstacle taught me resilience and pushed me to grow. I invested in education, honed my craft, and learned the importance of staying true to my unique style. Rebranding to “Lindan Ivey” was another leap of faith, but it’s been rewarding to create something so personal and meaningful. Those struggles have made every milestone even more worthwhile.

My business, Lindan Ivey, is all about enhancing natural beauty while creating a memorable, personalized experience. I specialize in soft glam bridal and event makeup, with a strong emphasis on skincare. I believe makeup should complement and elevate your features, not mask them, so I take the time to prep the skin and tailor every look to the client’s preferences.
What sets me apart is my attention to detail and the personal connection I build with each client. I work with all skin tones and textures, and I take pride in understanding what makes my clients feel their best. My calm and reassuring presence helps clients feel comfortable, even on their biggest days.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the heart behind it. My brand reflects my journey, my values, and the people who inspire me. I want clients to know that when they choose Lindan Ivey, they’re choosing someone who truly cares about their experience and is committed to quality and authenticity. Whether it’s your wedding day, a special event, or just a moment to feel pampered, I’m here to help you look and feel amazing.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was creative, curious, and always drawn to anything artistic. I loved experimenting with makeup even as a kid, whether it was playing with colors or trying to recreate looks I saw on Pinterest. I was the friend everyone came to for makeup before dances or special events, which made me realize how much I enjoyed making people feel confident and beautiful.
Personality-wise, I’ve always been a bit of a perfectionist. I liked to take my time with things and focus on the details, which has definitely carried over into my work today. I was also very empathetic, always the one listening and supporting my friends, which I think has helped me connect with clients on a deeper level.
Beyond makeup, I loved anything creative & I loved to dance. I was always curious about how things worked and loved finding ways to express myself.
