Today we’d like to introduce you to Eva Hardy
Hi Eva , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Since I was a child I loved any and everything art! My mom is very crafty and always had different projects going on around our house and I always loved to lend a helping hand so I know my creativity comes from her! After I graduated high school I attended tricot during covid and had a hard time figuring out a career, after a few semesters I dropped out. My friends and family encouraged me to peruse a career in art so I merged my love of nails and artistic abilities and ventured off to the academy of hair and technology. I found my passion in bringing others joy by making them feel pretty!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I scheduled my state board exams unaware how bad hurricane helen was going to be. We were out of power for 4 days before I went to take my exams so through out that week time my boyfriend held a flashlight over my notes so that I could study. On the way to Columbia I left home with a friend for moral support and to help me dodge all of the debris in the road. Once I passed and became licensed I struggled to find a good job, I interviewed at a few nail salons but I didn’t get the best impression. I felt discouraged and for a few months I was without a job. I found myself working out of my house for a little while to try to stay a float, a dear friend I went to high school and also worked with at a restaurant in high school became a client of mine she’s a hair stylist who works at the bohemian suites, she encouraged me to keep my head up. One day she told me that a bigger room was available at the suites and asked me if I’d want to rent a booth from her and work with her in that studio! I was so thankful, full of joy, and so happy to work with her again!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Mani Magic ?
I currently only work with hands, specialize in hard gel overlays on natural nails! I eventually want to get into waterless pedicures but I want to really prefect nails before I move on to something new. I think I’m own for creativity and how I’m always up for a challenge especially with nail art. I think what sets me apart from other techs is my artistic skill combined with my passion for making each client feel like a friend. I’m most proud of where I came from, I’ve always been afraid of failure and was afraid to try something new but mani magic has brought me out of my shell and encouraged me to be more vocal and passionate about my career! I’d love for readers to know when they enter the bohemian suites they are greeted with smiles and kindness by everyone! In our specific suite, every day is the ultimate girls day! Zoe and I make an effort to to interact and get to know not only our clients but each others as well! We have made many connections with each others clients and our clients have made connections with eachother as well! We love the atmosphere we have created to make everyone who enters those doors to feel love, accepted, and welcome!
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there, share your work on every aspect of social media and practice your craft as much as possible! Don’t get discouraged when you reach out to others and they don’t help you, keep speaking and reaching out for help! At times it can be hard to find but there are many nail techs that will share with you! Looking back I wish I would have spent more time researching the quality of products and connecting with more nail techs!
