Hi Devin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I saw that the local leather shop in my town was hiring and I thought that I would try my hand. Thankfully, they said yes and I became the shop assistant where I learned the foundations of everything I know today.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road at all. I only learned the foundations of leatherworking at the shop, everything that was more advanced I learned on my own. Not only that, no one taught me how to be a business owner and that is a whole different beast entirely. I would say that I have been thrown to the wolves after my apprenticeship and been made the better for it.

The brainchild of just one person, Gray, who’s dream is to make durable, unique pieces of art that can be carried by the average person through the daily journey and passed down for years to come.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I think that taking risks is inherently part of running a business. Every single day we are taking a chance to share our craft with the world and I did so by opening this business. I don’t think the average person realizes just how intimate and personal it is for a person to make thigs like this and open themselves to the world. When I make something, I put a part of myself into each and every item and I’m proud of that and I feel like people resonate with that. Every time I tweak a pattern or change a stitch line, it’s because someone gave me feedback or I tried something new and learned from the process. That’s the risk of being a craftsman, always sharpening my skills in the public eye and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
