Hidden Gems: Meet Daria Stevenson of Alopixels LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daria Stevenson

Hi Daria, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My educational background is in research and analysis and in international business. I have been working as an in-house Graphic Designer for Walker Filtration Inc. for over a decade. It has been great for my professional growth. I started out there as a Marketing Assistant and worked hard to become a Marketing Executive. Then, I took my work part-time at Walker Filtration Inc. as the company’s Graphic Designer. I have worked on various branding assets throughout my career at Walker Filtration, from manuals and brochures to social media posts and company email closures. In 2024, I decided to take my knowledge and experience and start my own Graphic Design business focused on providing my clients strategic marketing designs.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has been bumpy at times and smooth at other times. I was a little apprehensive to start my own business last year. It is always risky to plunge into something you’ve been thinking about for a while but are uncertain of how things will turn out. I am so glad that I did. It feels great to be able to use my creative license to express other people’s visions as well as my own. I am looking forward to what 2025 has in store.

As you know, we’re big fans of Alopixels LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I named my company Alopixels. This was not a quick decision. It was something I crafted. “Alopex” is the ancient Greek word for “fox”. “Pixels” comes from “picture elements” and are fundamental building blocks of graphic design. Foxes are known to be playful, clever and adaptable. They can figure their way out of many tricky and challenging situations. It inspires me to solve any problem that I come across. It took me some time to come up with this part of my brand: the fox (symbolizing creativity and ingenuity) on the column (signaling logic and strategy). I am quite proud of my logo artwork and how it resonates with the meaning of my brand: strategic marketing designs. I specialize in creating branded designs for clients that are strategic and imaginative in nature. One of my favorite projects to work on is branding an entire company – logo, color palette, typography, social media post templates, brochures, magazines, etc. It gives me joy to bring someone’s vision to life on a full scale.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I love listening to historical, art-related, and podcasts about languages. It might sound a bit strange, but I find inspiration for my work everywhere. I sincerely enjoy analyzing material and applying it to artwork. I am constantly thinking, reading or listening. There is always something new to learn, and I am here for it. Historic architecture, fashion, art styles over the centuries and nature are some of my personal inspirations. A few of my favorite periods of time are early Christian art, Renaissance, and Baroque art. The lighting, shadows, and colors used are beautiful and detailed and have stood the test of time. We still draw artistic creativity from them to this day.
