Hidden Gems: Meet Carlton Hoskins of Carlton Hoskins ChFc , RICP at Edward Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlton Hoskins.

Hi Carlton, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My road to becoming a Financial Advisor began in 2005 with a phone call with my college roommate. I was considering my next career move when he stated ” Why don’t you move to New York and work for a financial service company?” It was just something that never crossed my mind as a career. I had invested and had an understanding of the markets, but never saw myself in the role, and didn’t want to move to New York, but that one statement ignited a desire in me to be something I never saw myself as becoming and lead me down the road of this 19 year journey of helping people.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This journey has been a lot of hard work and self awareness. I’m not the first thing one may imagine when they think of a financial advisor. I spent my first 2 years learning how to convey my value and worth to others while trying to find comfort in my own skin. There were not many other African American advisors for me to look to for guidance, so a lot was just figured out on my own. I was blessed to have a strong family that always supported me and just seemed to meet the right people at the right time to keep my grounded and focused.

We’ve been impressed with Carlton Hoskins ChFc , RICP at Edward Jones, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

I employ a proven five-step process that starts with a deep investment of my time to truly understand your aspirations before you invest your money. This approach involves identifying what matters most to you while clearly outlining your short- and long-term goals. My clients often express appreciation for the time I dedicate not only to understanding their goals but also to educating them about the strategies and investments within their portfolios. This education fosters a greater sense of comfort and confidence in their decision-making processes.

My mission is to serve you diligently and honorably, guiding you toward the successful achievement of your financial goals, both short-term and long-term.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I expect to see large growth in this industry in the next 5-10 years. As more people look to move toward retirement and transition wealth to their heirs the need for informed and trusted professionals to help achieve those goals grow. The advisors of the late 90’s are also starting to retire, which leaves a void that will need to be filled by new advisors.

As AI grows into the industry, better understanding of how technology can help people in regards to our industry is a must. As we move forward, a strong advisor will be knowledgeable of both technology and how impacts the lives of people and businesses
