Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Canaski
Hi Brittany, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Back in 2019, I had a ‘quarter-life crisis’ while working in corporate America. I was working in the field I went to school for (marketing), was getting promoted regularly, was paid well, and was working from home before that was common – but something felt missing.
I decided to work with a life coach to help me navigate this stage of my career and life and it turned into a life-changing experience. I learned so much about myself like my strengths, my values, and my life-long goals that helped me show up more confidently and decisively in my everyday life.
I quickly realized that if I could help one person the way she had helped me, it would be more fulfilling than anything I could do in the next 30 or 40 years in corporate America. So, within a few months, I signed up for a year-long intensive life & leadership coach training program with the goal of learning as much as possible and helping at least one person.
That goal quickly snowballed from a passion project to a side hustle to my full-time business within 14 months of starting my coaching training.
My goals and business have evolved a hundred times in the last five years but one thing has stayed true: my belief in coaching to be a catalyst for people to transform their work and lives for the better.
Within my business, Hello Velocity, I provide leadership coaching and trainings to help teams and individuals better understand their performance habits so that they can work smarter, not harder to get where they want to be. Some of my favorite leadership topics are communication, prioritization, and accountability.
It’s still astonishing to see the progress, wins, and learnings my clients have while working together. It’s such an honor to help each client achieve their personal and professional goals quicker than they were able to on their own. I’m grateful everyday for my journey that led me here and couldn’t imagine anything more fulfilling.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road being an entrepreneur. There seem to be never-ending learnings at each stage of business, or as someone once told me “new level, new devil.” At the beginning stages of starting my business, it was a struggle to put myself out there as an entrepreneur and to even tell people what I was doing or ask for business or referrals. Thankfully, that’s now become second nature.
Another struggle has been figuring out how to focus in on the best ideas at the best time. I have a million ideas for my business and I get so excited that I want to start them all… now. But I’ve learned (the hard way) that’s not realistic. So it’s learning the delicate balance of strategic thinking, prioritizing, and managing my own time and deadlines.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Hello Velocity is a leadership coaching and training company that empowers leaders with the tools and confidence they need to unlock their performance potential.
Typically, individuals come to me for leadership coaching when they are already a high-performing leader who wants to be more confident in themselves, more efficient in their daily work, and/or a better leader for their team.
What sets me apart is my ability to leverage my decade of experience in corporate America, often being the youngest person in the room presenting to C-suite executives, to bring a new perspective that connects with professionals of all ages and levels in the company. Clients also share that I’m very easy to talk to and open up to, which is crucial for establishing a meaningful and productive coaching partnership.
I’ve been recognized by Influence + Digest as one of the top coaches in Charlotte for two years in a row (2023-2024).
I’m based out of Charlotte, NC and can do coaching and trainings virtually, in-person at my coworking space in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood, or on-site with a corporate client.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I grew up in a tiny town outside of Buffalo, NY (population of 1,000 people) so it was always so easy as a kid to play outside. There were nearly a dozen of us kids within 3 years of each other that lived within two or three blocks. We’d always get together after school and stay out until our parents would call us home. We actually had the rule in the summer to come home when the street lights came on!
