Hidden Gems: Meet Beth Bollinger of NERVana Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Bollinger.

Hi Beth, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I moved to Charleston SC in 2014 and have loved every moment of it! Initially I started work in spas and as a nanny for a bit, while also doing markets as a visual artist (bethy_nervanaartstudio). Then in 2018 I started my LMT business with the hope of an extra set of income. I knew I’d find some people interested in mobile massage but to my joy the Charleston area loves my mobile massage services!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
My road was relatively smooth until 2020. I had already lived in Charleston for a few years so I had a strong network of friends and acquaintances to start with.

Word of mouth, Facebook posts, and affordable prices to get my name out there all helped me shape a schedule I was happy with.

I was just about to leave my nanny life behind and lean into massage therapy full time when 2020 and the pandemic hit. Since then, I’ve been steadily re-growing my practice with new knowledge, new prices, and a new outlook on what it takes to be a healer in the community.

As you know, we’re big fans of NERVana Studio. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
One of the amazing things about the massage therapy profession is that what you provide can be something completely different from another therapist. Massage therapy can lead to the trifecta of healing; affecting the brain, body, and our spiritual nature.

NERVana Studio is committed to the connection of that brain to body communication. Our goal is to help our clients reset their nervous system back to a state of being still within themselves. While things do go wrong with the physical body, that’s not where pain exclusively lives.

True treatment of chronic pain requires targeting the whole person: mental, emotional, and physical. I think what I’m most proud of when it comes to my brand is that I’m here to hold space for everyone. As a mobile massage therapist, I not only travel to residential homes but also to businesses and events!

From inside offices, and other workplaces, to behind the scenes at festivals. If you’re looking to treat your employees or guests, a chair massage is a great added touch!

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
What’s worked well for me is always continuing to talk about my business and passions to anyone who shows interest in my profession.

Having short stints at local spas to meet other therapists & gain new experience has also helped highlight what my main interests are and what type of therapist I want to continue working towards being.
