Hi Alyssa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started cutting and coloring my friends and siblings hair way before i went to school. I started school in 2020 during covid and graduated the beginning of 2022. I started in my salon in September of 2022. Since then I’ve learned a lot from my peers and grown a lot. I specialize in vivid colors and alternative haircut as well as curly hair cuts.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Growing your own business is never easy. And trusting people with your hair is also not easy. You have to earn that trust in 1 appointment. I’ve had to be consistent with posting a social media, and putting myself out there, in order to have the clients that i have today.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business is Hair by Alyssa Black. I take clients Wed-Sat. I do haircuts, curly cuts, blonding, color, and vivid color.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
As far as a mentor, i don’t have a specific one, but i have learned lots from all my fellow stylists at my salon.
