Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrian Dorman.
Hi Adrian, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Our seafood restaurant, Lee’s Inlet Kitchen, is located in Murrells Inlet, SC and has been in our family for 77 years- it was started in 1948 by my great grandparents. Since then it has been passed down through the generations and this year (2025) my parents retired and my sister Ashton DuBose and I took it over. It’s been challenging but very rewarding to take this journey together and put our own stamp on the business while also maintaining the traditions that have kept guests coming back for generations.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Even though we grew up in this business and have been in and out of the restaurant our whole lives, being the ones that people come to with issues, the ones in charge, has really been eye opening. Luckily my sister and I work very well together as a team and are very much on the same page, which helps tremendously. But learning how to really lead, deal with emergencies and crises, and still maintain excellent service and guest relations has been a journey for sure! I don’t have children but I often joke this must be what having toddlers is like because I hear my name called dozens of times a night 😂
As you know, we’re big fans of Lee’s Inlet Kitchen . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a seafood restaurant located in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina that has been in our family and in business since 1948. We specialize in fresh local seafood, with fresh caught local fish and shrimp being our standout bestsellers. We’ve received many accolades along the way, including being voted Best Seafood in South Carolina by Southern Living Magazine and consistently named Best Seafood and Best of the Beach year after year. We pride ourselves on our homey, welcoming family atmosphere and our excellent service with a smile. We are very fortunate to have guests that come back year after year; we have some that have literally been coming since we opened in 1948! Everyone has a story or memory of our business and family and it’s really special.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My sister and I are very fortunate to have been raised in a family where hard work was expected and the norm. The restaurant has always been a family affair and I credit our parents with that. They instilled in us a great work ethic as well as a drive for cleanliness, uncompromising quality, consistency and genuine hospitality.
