Hi Tyrah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
Back in 2019, I was working at a warehouse where they produced different types of products, and I believe at that point, my journey began for The Doll Face Collection. Working there, I was so inspired, and it motivated me to start my own business because I, too, wanted to provide something for my community.
I continued to work for a few more months before I put my two weeks’ notice in, all while planning everything I needed to get started for my business. After leaving, I could start putting in the footwork for my business full-time, ordering inventory, designing & ordering labels, and finding vendors for my organic products and inventory. I literally took multiple trips to LA until I found the winners, and the fact that I love fashion, yes, I couldn’t help but add on a clothing line as well! From then on, I knew I would become an entrepreneur. I produce organic hair products under the name Gold Label Hair and organic skin care products under the name Eye Candy Skin, which are made for all skin types, especially sensitive ones. The type of women’s fashion & accessories I sell is everything from casual to evening wear.
At that point, I decided I also wanted to serve my community, so I went to school to become an esthetician. So basically, the Doll Face Collection is a one-stop shop for all your beauty needs! So now I offer eyelash extensions and facial treatments in North Charleston. Four years later, I’ve shipped to almost all 50 states. I have a contract with Hair Depot on Ashley Phosphate Rd for my hair products which are in store now. I’ve showcased at The Black Expo 2023 and hundreds of other pop-up shops around the South Carolina and GA area. I’ve had my inventory showcased at the red carpet event Gullah Gala 2022 and will do so again this year, 2023 (don’t forget to buy your tickets!), and several other fashion shows.
As an entrepreneur, I love joining the community, meeting and supporting other entrepreneurs, and inspiring others who want to start the entrepreneurship journey. I love ventures that bring exposure to my business and keep me busy as a public figure. This year, I had the pleasure of being part of the Inked Women’s Cover Magazine competition. Although I didn’t place first, I did end up placing third and being the only black female to do so for South Carolina, and that’s a real accomplishment for me, although I didn’t win. Charleston supported me, and I had a ball doing the competition.
This year, I’ll be a part of the cast for season one of a brand new show Official Vibes House, filming in Charleston, SC! Filming begins in October 2023 and will air in December 2023 on the Royal K Network on all platforms, including Roku, Amazon TV, and Apple TV. Follow us on IG to learn more!
My love of fashion had run deep since I was young when my grandmother enrolled me in the Barbizon School of Modeling, where we attended the Model Showcase in Los Angeles, California. Even today, I model all my inventory for my website, which has been a success! I fell in love. Also, this year, I have been accepted to participate in The Miss Fashion Global this November 2023 in Destin, Florida. The winner can become Mrs. Humanity, so I’m excited about that opportunity. My daughter Anaria is to give all thanks for keeping me motivated and making me such a hard worker, making me always strive to want more and never settle. Moving forward, I hope to continue providing great aesthetician services, women’s fashion and being an all-around public figure and role model representing the Charleston community.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Struggles along the way have always been finances, with me quitting my job from the beginning to be able to focus on my business full-time; it was a struggle the first two years. You don’t get any sales, you don’t get any clientele, and you’re paying for Inventory and products out of pocket; it’s just about pushing and promoting at the beginning, but after those two years with continuous consistency and support, I was able to gain clientele, have consistent sales. It was worth it!

The Doll Face Collection specializes in organic hair products, organic skin care products, & women’s fashion; I also am an esthetician, so I provide lash extensions and facial treatments. The hair products I provide are organic latex-free lace glue that is waterproof with an unbelievable hold. I also offer a spray-on lace glue remover that’s organic, no alcohol, so your edges will be intact after you remove your wig. I provide a peach 24-hour hold edge control made with avocado oil that smells amazing, and I also have a 48-hour hold edge control that’s an orchard; both edge controls promote hair growth. I have a heat protectant spray that is a magic hairspray. Perfect for flat ironing, moisturizing your real hair, bringing wigs back to life, and protecting from heat simultaneously, and also smells amazing. No chemicals, all organic. I have a laid wax stick that is perfect for all flyaways, has no residue, and is organic.
The skin care product I offer is an organic aloe face moisturizer. And aloe face cleanser that is also organic. A witch hazel toner that is perfect for removing dirt after you’ve washed your face, and my favorite, the hyaluronic acid serum, which is perfect for a daily oil to use on your face. Everything organic. I also offer a chocolate clay mask, perfect for acne and blackheads. I offer a rose jelly mask for evening out your skin tone, and I offer a grape exfoliation mask as well. Everything is perfect for sensitive skin.
I offer women’s fashion casual, evening, dressy, and sleepwear, & I also offer accessories, such as sunglasses and purses. What sets me apart from other entrepreneurs who have a business is that I am very organized and detailed about everything I do. My website was professionally made to match my thank you cards, aftercare cards, and loyalty cards, which match my logo. Everything is pink and pleasingly aesthetic, making you want to shop. My brand is eye-catching, and that’s the first number one thing that catches consumers’ attention. And that is my brand. Honestly, that is what I am most proud of: my brand stands out from others; even though we may be doing the same thing, we aren’t doing the same thing! If you understand what I mean!

What’s next?
My plans for the future by 2024-2025 are to open up a huge mall-type storefront. And that storefront will have your eyelash section where you get your eyelashes done and purchase lash strips. There will be your facial section when you get your facial treatments done and purchase skin care products. There will be a shopping section where you can shop for your outfits and accessories. There will be a section where you get your hair products and can also purchase wigs (which I’d add on). I will hire a team to do lashes extensions, to do facials, to do wig installs, to do makeup, to do pedicures, & to do nails so that way we will be the go-to location here in Charleston when you want to get ready for your event! I literally cannot wait!
