Hi Tom, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been entrepreneurial and wanted to own my own business. While traveling for my corporate job, I realized there wasn’t a good candle line that represented the Southern culture. That’s when Southern Charm Candle Co. was born. Our goal was to capture the essence of the south, not only with great southern scents, but also with our unique toppers called embeds that make our candles not only hand poured, but hand crafted works of art.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are always challenges with any business, but especially a small business. I have to wear many hats in order to keep the business rolling, but I find that with every new challenge, it causes me to become even more creative in order to find the best solution.

At Southern Charm Candle Co., we hand pour and hand craft natural soy wax candles. What makes our candles unique is that every one is hand crafted with a topper that represents the scent of the candle. These toppers are called embeds and they are also poured in house with natural soy wax. We pride ourselves in offering unique southern themed candles with fragrances that smell just like the scent being represented.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advise for anyone starting out with a new business is to set reasonable goals, shoot for slow steady growth, and do not worry about rejection. If you are bringing a valuable product or service to market, then stay persistent and eventually others will recognize that value.
