Today we’d like to introduce you to Tee Stoudemayer.
Hi Tee, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Red Lab Lawn Care began as more than just a business idea — it was born out of a passion for creating beautiful outdoor spaces and a desire to serve our local community with integrity and excellence. I studied Turfgrass Management (’19 BS and ’21 MS) at Clemson University and had the opportunity to work alongside a professor in turfgrass research for several years. That experience not only deepened my technical knowledge but also instilled in me a respect and passion for the science behind healthy, sustainable lawns.
After years of working in the industry, I decided to take a leap and build something of my own. Red Lab Lawn Care was founded with a simple goal: to grow people while growing grass. We started small — just me, a truck, and a handful of clients who trusted us to care for their lawns. Word of mouth spread, and before long, we grew into a dedicated team committed to delivering results our clients could see and feel. I remain committed to growing the team, in size and character. As we grow, that character growth should then translate to a better end product in the field.
Along the way, we’ve prioritized education, transparency, and communication. We don’t just treat lawns — we build relationships, with customers and within our team. Whether it’s offering tailored lawn care programs or helping new homeowners understand how to care for their sod, we’re here to guide and support. It’s been a lot of hard work, but seeing the transformation in our clients’ yards — and the smiles that come with it — makes every challenge worth it.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like most small business journeys, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — but every challenge has played a part in shaping who we are today.
One of the biggest hurdles early on was simply getting the word out. Starting from scratch meant building trust in the community one lawn at a time. There were days when the phone didn’t ring and weeks where I questioned if I had made the right decision. But I stayed committed to the vision and kept showing up, even when it was difficult.
Another challenge has been finding balance — managing the business side, working out in the field with customers, and still being present as a husband and dad. It can definitely feel like a lot at times. I wear many hats, and that can stretch you thin at times. But it’s also pushed me to grow as a leader, husband and father and build systems that allow the business to scale without losing the personal touch we’re known for, or too much time with my family.
Weather has also been an unpredictable challenge — it affects scheduling, application timing, and lawn health. Learning how to work around it while still delivering consistent results has taken time and experience.
Through it all, I’ve learned that perseverance, adaptability, and clear communication — both on the job and at home with my wife — are key. Every struggle has taught me something valuable and helped lay the foundation for where Red Lab Lawn Care is headed next.
As you know, we’re big fans of Red Lab Lawn Care, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Red Lab Lawn Care, we specialize in premium lawn treatment services — including weed control, fertilization, core aeration, and overseeding — designed to transform and maintain healthy, vibrant lawns across Upstate South Carolina. We’re a local, independently owned business rooted in science, service, and Biblical values.
What sets us apart is our personalized approach. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all programs. Every lawn is different, and we tailor our treatments based on the turf type, soil condition, and seasonal needs. We take time to educate our customers, answer questions, and explain the “why” behind what we do — because we believe a well-informed homeowner is the best partner in achieving long-term results.
We’re known for our consistency, professionalism, and the visible transformations we deliver. Our customers often come to us frustrated with patchy grass, stubborn weeds, or struggling sod — and they stay because they see real change.
Brand-wise, we love seeing the trust we’ve built in the community. Red Lab Lawn Care isn’t just about making lawns greener — it’s about building relationships, standing by our word, and showing up with care and integrity in everything we do.
Whether you’re dealing with new sod that just won’t thrive or a lawn that’s been neglected for years, we’re here to help. We want your lawn to be something you’re proud of — and we’ll treat it like it’s our own.
What does success mean to you?
To me, success isn’t just about numbers or rapid growth — it’s about impact, consistency, and staying true to your values. Our values center around our core belief – we are a Biblically based business. We want others to see Christ through our work, speech, and conduct. I define success as being able to do meaningful work every day, serve others with integrity, build something that lasts where every client can see the character of Christ in our word and work.
If a customer tells me their lawn finally looks the way they’ve always hoped — or that they feel confident recommending us to their neighbors — that’s success. If we’re able to grow while maintaining the same level of personal care and quality, that’s success.
It’s also about creating balance — being present for my family, staying grounded, and building a business that helps us grow our team and our reach without burning out. Long-term, success means leaving a positive mark on the community, building relationships that matter, and knowing that the work we do helps people feel better about their homes and the spaces around them, while building home-value through curb-appeal.
