Today we’d like to introduce you to Tarsya Mercer
Hi Tarsya, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Kimberly Melvin-Thomas and Tarsya Mercer were brought together through a mutual friend whose presence left an enduring impact. Two years ago, this cherished friend lost her battle with metastatic breast cancer, inspiring the creation of Ashé & Company in her honor.
Kimberly & Tarsya, share a passion for community-driven initiatives. By combining their skills and experiences, they established a platform to create meaningful events that promote awareness, support, and connection.
The first event under Ashé & Company, Warriors of Wellness, emerged from their friend’s journey and the need for greater advocacy in health and wellness. Events like this, along with The End of the Year Kids Fest, exemplify the organization’s mission to unite people and inspire lasting change.
Ashé & Company remains committed to making an impact by uplifting communities, supporting those in need, and carrying forward a legacy built on Passion, Purpose, and People.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Building Ashé & Company has come with its challenges. One of the biggest hurdles has been securing funding and resources to support their events. There is a significant need in the community, and they have a clear vision for impactful initiatives, but financial limitations often make it difficult to bring those ideas to life at the scale they envision.
Beyond that, balancing everything can be overwhelming at times. As women, we naturally take on multiple roles, and while we are deeply passionate about the work we do, maintaining that balance between our careers, families, and growing Ashé & Company can sometimes feel like a juggling act.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Ashé and Company, we are dedicated to empowering communities through purposeful events and initiatives that foster connection, growth, and lasting impact. As a non-profit organization, our mission is to create spaces where people feel seen, heard, and inspired to build stronger relationships with themselves and those around them.
We specialize in curating experiences that promote unity and personal development, from thoughtfully designed community gatherings to workshops that ignite meaningful conversations. What sets us apart is our heartfelt commitment to authenticity and intentionality in everything we do — every detail is carefully crafted to align with our vision of cultivating love, understanding, and progress within our communities.
We take immense pride in our ability to blend creativity with purpose. Our team works tirelessly to ensure each event is not only memorable but also serves as a catalyst for positive change. Whether we’re hosting a vision board experience for couples, collaborating with local businesses to spotlight their impact, or organizing events that celebrate cultural heritage, Ashé and Company stands as a beacon of inspiration and inclusivity.
We want our audience to know that when they engage with Ashé and Company, they’re joining a movement driven by passion and a genuine desire to make a difference. Our offerings are more than just events — they’re opportunities to connect, dream, and build a brighter future, together.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Be Clear About Your Goals: Understand what you want to learn or achieve through mentorship. This makes it easier to identify people whose experience aligns with your aspirations.
Leverage Your Community: Engage with local events, industry meetups, or volunteer opportunities. Ashe and Company’s events are already a natural hub for connection — use these moments to build genuine relationships.
Join Industry Groups: Participate in professional organizations or online forums related to event planning, hospitality, or non-profit work. These communities often host mentorship programs or networking events.
Give Before You Ask: Build relationships by offering value first — share helpful resources, support their projects, or simply express appreciation for their work. This reciprocity makes connections more authentic and lasting.
Be Patient and Persistent: Building meaningful connections takes time. Stay consistent, follow up with people you meet, and nurture those relationships organically.
