Today we’d like to introduce you to Susan High.
Hi Susan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
One day you’re driving around minding your own business when your drive is interrupted by a tearful prayer over something that wasn’t even on your radar screen. Then here you are years later finding yourself doing things you never imagined you would be doing.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The prayer got my attention and lead me to a ministry in Atlanta. What I was sure we would be in the beginning isn’t at all what we are today. Being very cautious and waiting on God to lead there was always the same question, “have you not started that ministry yet?”
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Wellspring SC & Wellspring Treasures?
Wellspring SC has two locations in Spartanburg. The Wellhouse is home to our formal ministry where we meet with our clients by appointment for prayer and discipleship. It’s a sweet ministry that we could not have imagined. The Wellhouse is also home base for two other local ministries, GracePointe Ministries and Life of Hesed Ministries.
The true surprise is what the thrift store has turned out to be! It has taken a ministry life of it’s own. There are several things that set us apart from many second hand stores according to our shoppers, “Y’all don’t stink” and they love that our clothes are hung by color. We have the best prices for the best clothes. We have a prayer chapel in the middle of the store and a Bible study room with a screen door and a chicken wire wall.
Because the Lord is so generous to us, we have been able not only to support the ministry of The Wellhouse, we are also to invest in many other ministries around the county.
What were you like growing up?
As an only child I always enjoyed being able to visit and play with many cousins, riding bikes through the streets of Greer and playing baseball in the back yard. When I was home alone my favorite toy were my LEGO’s. Of course LEGO’s back in the day were much simpler than todays with two different block sizes, a few doors and several sizes of windows. I’ve always enjoyed decorating and artsy type crafts. As a child of the 70’s of course there were smocks to sew and embroidery.
