Exploring Life & Business with Robby Carter of Cruisin’ RV Wash LLC.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robby Carter.

Hi Robby, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Cruisin’ RV Wash started after the COVID pandemic. My fiance, Ashleigh, and I were looking at ways we could improve financially after finishing school. We were living in a townhome but downsized into a 5th wheel camper with our 5 rescues (4 dogs and a cat). While living at our new campground, we noticed several RV’s needing to be washed. This sparked our interest and with Ashleigh’s father being an RV technician, we already had some best practices under our belt taking care of RVs. We found this service was not readily available around Greenville, South Carolina and cleaning is not so easy for RV owners to do on their own without spending more time and money. So with all things considered, we decided to start Cruisin’ RV Wash to provide a mobile RV washing service across the upstate of South Carolina!

We’ve now lived in the upstate of SC for 10 years and have been operating Cruisin’ RV Wash for almost 5 years. We go to wherever our client’s need us with our own water source and safe products for all RVs. We pride ourselves on washing each RV like it’s our own and ensure that our customers are completely satisfied with our services.

Through Cruisin’ RV Wash, we’re able to reach out to our community, participating in local parades and supporting other local businesses. As we continue to grow, we hope to continue partnering with our community and other small business to keep our relationships strong!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any startup, there were many struggles starting out. Lack of recognition, credibility, client base, funding and competition from auto detailers wanting to offer RV services. We knew we could provide a better service with the knowledge of RVs we had but, being a new business, we had relatively no presence to show who we were and basically had zero funds. With that, we offered any camper at $100 and that was a major learning curve. We quickly found out that the products, tools and time needed to take care of these RVs required more than just being able to do a simple scrub down and some require more delicacy than others.
With the amount of jobs we were able to do by that time, it provided us with the opportunity to become a South Carolina state business and registered Cruisin’ RV Wash as a LLC. From there we created our website and social media pages as well as a Google and Yelp page to help broadcast our business to everyone. This was another learning curve that took a lot of time figuring out SEO and what would be the right platform for us. Once we had our online presence we realized we lacked credibility – meaning people were hesitant to try our services because we were “the new kids on the block”, and they surely were not wanting to waste their money on someone to mess up their prized possessions, rightfully so! We had only a handful of prior jobs under our belt, but as we’ve continued to grow and trust the process, word has been spreading that Cruisin’ RV Wash was worth keeping around and we hope to continue reaching out and meeting new clients everyday!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Cruisin’ RV Wash LLC.?
Cruisin’ RV Wash is a family run business specializing in washing RVs with the best products to help promote their longevity. Keeping an RV cleaned ideally every 3-4 months will ensure that any storms, travel or storage time is washed off. During the wash we check over all seals, skylights and roofing plus the body for any issues to report. If RVs aren’t kept up you will experience oxidization, breaking down of decals, black streaks that can be baked into the surface and missed opportunities to ensure seals and roof coatings are not compromised. We want to make sure everyone can stay on the road, and not held back in the campground for an unclean camper! We take pride in all of the small details of our business from offering military and senior discounts to using the appropriate products, this keeps RVs on the road and our customers happy!

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
How to grow as a business. Growing a small business takes time and dedication, it’s not always sunshine and rainbows. It requires a lot of long hours, deadlines, logistics and other key components that all have to be in play to run a business day to day. However, having the right support system and resources have definitely helped us get to where we are today.
