Hi Raleigh , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Lorenz Esposito and Raleigh Phillips founded Republic Event Rentals in Charleston, South Carolina, in September 2025. Charleston is one of the premier destinations in the country for weddings, corporate events, and special celebrations, making it the perfect place to launch an event rental company focused on exceptional service.
Both founders brought valuable experience to the business. Lorenz previously worked in the event industry with ICEBOX in Charleston and also owns and operates a successful SEO and digital marketing company. Raleigh’s event background includes working at UCLA, where he served as an event supervisor, as well as being part of the event hospitality team for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
From day one, our goal has been simple: to be the “good guys” in the event rental industry. We believe that fast response times, outstanding customer service, and clear communication are what set us apart. We also recognized a gap in the market—many rental companies require customers to meet high minimum order amounts for delivery and pickup. We chose not to have those minimums, allowing us to serve everything from intimate dinner parties to large-scale weddings and corporate events.
Since launching in September 2025, Republic Event Rentals has completed more than 220 events throughout the Charleston area. Our events have ranged from elegant weddings and corporate gatherings to private celebrations and backyard dinner parties. The support from our clients and community has allowed us to grow faster than we ever imagined.
As we continue through 2026, we’re excited to expand our inventory, serve even more clients, and continue raising the bar for customer service in the Charleston event industry. One of the biggest milestones for the company has been moving into its own warehouse, providing the space needed to continue expanding inventory and improving operations. Looking ahead, the team is focused on building out a new showroom that is scheduled to launch in July. The showroom will give event planners, brides, corporate clients, and hosts the opportunity to see rental products in person and work directly with the team to bring their event visions to life. The goal is to create a one-stop destination where clients can explore furniture, linens, tables, chairs, décor, and more—all under one roof.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Yes, overall it has been a smooth journey. One of the biggest challenges along the way was operating with just the two of us running all over Charleston, handling deliveries, pickups, setups, and everything else that comes with running a business.
Thankfully, we now have a few part-time team members helping us, which has made things much more manageable and allowed us to continue growing. Overall, it has been a great experience, and we’re still learning something new every day.
