Hi! I’m Marianna Cuomo Maier, the founder of Grata Wellness and a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach. My journey into the wellness space was born out of my own experience with burnout. This inspired me to establish Grata Wellness with the mission to empower individuals to become the best version of themselves and create a lifestyle filled with vitality and joy.
Before founding Grata, I studied Sociology at Yale University. After graduation, I joined Teach for America as a pre-K teacher in Englewood, Chicago. Following that, I served as the Chief of Staff at a health tech startup. In these roles, I experienced burnout firsthand, often prioritizing work over my well-being. This led me to explore personal wellness practices such as running, yoga, and meditation.
These transformative experiences were the catalyst for founding Grata Wellness. I specialize in behavior change, burnout prevention, and stress management. My practice is built on the principles of gratitude-centered wellness, drawing from my own journey with burnout and personal transformation. I offer personalized one-on-one coaching, corporate wellness programs, and engaging workshops both in NYC and virtually. Each session is tailored to meet individual needs, ensuring sustainable and lasting change.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey hasn’t been without challenges. Teaching in Englewood and later working in a demanding startup environment exposed me to burnout. I experienced gut health issues, chronic fatigue, and a sense of depletion that prompted a profound reevaluation of my priorities.
Understanding my body became pivotal—I embraced running and holistic practices like yoga and nutritious eating. Through this journey, I learned resilience and the importance of self-care. I realized that to truly thrive rather than merely survive, one must prioritize filling up their own cup. This lesson is now a cornerstone of my coaching practice, where I guide my clients through similar challenges and emphasize the necessity of self-care for sustainable well-being.

With a background in education, including a Master’s in Teaching, I’m passionate about leveraging these skills to lead impactful workshops and corporate wellness initiatives.
