Exploring Life & Business with Kaitlyn Carroll of Harbor Wellness Co

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn Carroll.

Hi Kaitlyn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My passion for chiropractic began at age 15, when years of back pain led to a scoliosis diagnosis. Chiropractic care was life-changing, helping me find relief and regain control of my health. That experience inspired me to become a chiropractor, dedicated to helping others overcome pain and improve their quality of life. After chiropractic school, my husband and I moved to Mt. Pleasant, SC and started our practice together!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Obstacle? Of course not-ha! After years of stress in undergrad and grad school – 4 parts of boards, living on student loans and navigating what to do after school finished – the hard part began. Starting a practice from scratch in a city we knew almost no one at 27 in a new marriage was a struggle. Even 8 years later, small business life is always going to have something unexpected – and owning a practice with your partner has its perks and its downside!

As you know, we’re big fans of Harbor Wellness Co. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We’re Drs. Kaitlyn and Brandon Carroll, a husband-and-wife chiropractic team and the founders of Harbor Wellness Co. We serve Charleston’s active, wellness-focused community with a modern, intentional approach to chiropractic care.

Our passion for chiropractic is rooted in personal experience. Dr. Kaitlyn discovered chiropractic as a teenager after being diagnosed with scoliosis and experiencing how powerful consistent, natural care can be. Chiropractic helped her avoid bracing or surgery, and inspired her to become a chiropractor and help others feel confident and connected in their bodies.

Dr. Brandon’s journey began through athletics. While playing football, he suffered a separated shoulder. Chiropractic rehabilitation helped him to fully recover without surgery, showing him that the right care can restore function, strength, and longevity without invasive intervention. These experiences shaped our shared belief in the amazing benefits high level chiropractic care brings.

After meeting and getting married in chiropractic school, we started looking for a home to build our practice, and Charleston stood out immediately! Its active lifestyle, appreciation for wellness, and strong sense of community made it the perfect place to put down roots. We currently live in Mount Pleasant with our rescue dog and 2 meows. Outside of the office, we enjoy boating, exercising, and Charleston’s stellar restaurant scene. Dr. Brandon is a proud member at Rivertowne Country Club, while Dr. Kaitlyn enjoys mahjong, backyard gardening and staying active with pilates, barre, and yoga.

Our mission is simple: to help you move better, feel better, and continue doing what you love.

With our incredible team, we are able to serve our neighbors at the highest level. Dr. Brandon specializes in golf-specific chiropractic, Dr. Kaitlyn specializes in prenatal care and pediatrics, Dr. Varya specializes in young athletes and TMJ, and Dr. Riley specializes in sports chiropractic and extremities adjusting!

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
We experience success every single day through the stories of our patients. A father picking up his son for the first time in weeks, now that his low back isn’t twinging; a grandma, without neck pain, is able to take her grandchildren to the playground; a young athlete getting back to their sport after a month off due to shoulder pain. Our success is directly tied to our patients living fuller, healthier, and more active lives, which we are grateful to witness every day!
