Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan, Garrette Lewallen, Roff
Hi Jonathan, Garrette, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Our dream began at Garrette’s wedding (Co- founder of Low Country Beanery), the night was perfect but one thing was missing. After the cake was cut and dinner was eaten, we wanted a cup of coffee to sip on while we chat with friends and to get us ready to dance the night away. So, we decided that no one else needed to miss out on satisfying that craving. Due to us having years of combined barista experience from various coffee shops, the hard part of learning the craft was taken care of. All we had to do was figure out how to make the coffee shop mobile. So, Low Country Beanery was born and now today we serve our hand-crafted coffee to the Charleston area.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
To say that the road was bumpy would be an understatement. Neither Jonathan or I (Garrette) have any previous entrepreneurial experience so we didn’t know where to begin. However, through countless hours of Youtube and talking with some entrepreneurial friends we had a framework for what it looks like to run a business. We got our business off the ground. Then proceeded to face problems of how to share our brand and how to be profitable. The main thing that we learned was that there is plethora of resources out there it’s just about having the tenacity to find and use them.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Low Country Beanery?
Low Country Beanery is a mobile espresso bar that brings the quality and feel of coffee shop to your event. We specialize in artisan hand crafted coffee that is sure to make your event stand apart from the rest. Something that we take pride in is our desire to have coffee shop quality with a personal flare of convenience and personality. We can service any kind of event, be it a black tie wedding or a birthday party, we do it all.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
We have seen from the beginning that people are moving away from the traditional open bar with weddings as mobile operations have become more available. We see this as a trend that will continue over the next 5- 10 years especially as the move away from traditional weddings has proliferated.
