Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Christian Wright
Hi Jon Christian, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey in pest management began in 2012 when I started as a virtual office manager, gaining foundational experience in the industry. In 2018, I transitioned to a field technician role after relocating to Northern Virginia, in the DC Metro area. By 2019, through certification and hard work, I specialized in addressing a wide range of pest challenges, including ants, roaches, mosquitoes, termites, and real estate termite inspections, eventually advancing to lead technician.
In 2023, my career brought me back to South Carolina, where I served as a branch manager for a respected local pest control company. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, my time there came to an end. After much prayer and heartfelt discussions with my wife, I made the leap to start my own company—a decision driven by my passion for excellence and customer satisfaction.
My expertise is backed by direct certifications with BASF’s Termidor product line and SentriCon systems, along with mentorship from industry leaders who helped me refine my skills to deliver lasting pest control solutions. Today, my business reflects a commitment to customer service, comprehensive pest management, and peace of mind for my clients. Founding this company has allowed me to provide the level of service and care I’ve always envisioned, fulfilling a long-standing personal and professional goal.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a business in South Carolina presented its unique challenges. Unlike some states, South Carolina doesn’t have a state-wide business license, so you need to obtain licenses at the county or municipal level. That process alone can mean securing five to ten different licenses, and the legwork takes weeks to complete. Once that was sorted, the rest of the business setup was surprisingly straightforward.
One piece of advice I’d give to anyone starting out is to create a detailed list of what’s absolutely necessary versus what’s just nice to have. I was fortunate not to face major hurdles with startup funding, but allocating that money wisely was a sharp and humbling learning curve. Marketing, in particular, has been one of my biggest challenges—it’s not cheap, and making the most of both online and in-person tools requires a lot of trial and error.
While the struggles of entrepreneurship could fill a book, I’m incredibly grateful for the people in my life who’ve helped me push through the fog and keep moving forward. Their support has been invaluable on this journey. Everyone needs a strong, yet small circle of people.

We want everyone to consider pest control as a need and not just a want. I believe pest management is just as important as insurance for your home, car and health. It’s a lack of knowledge that keeps everyday people from seeing how critical pest management is for your home, health, and peace of mind.
Pest Control should be affordable and available for all homes, but each home is its own thumbprint. Through experience and understanding the latest trends I’ve created services can be done in an uniform manner while having adaptability at its core for each property to be treated properly. I offer tailored services for each type of home structure, from single family homes to townhouses to mobile homes. We offer a monthly budget-friendly subscriptions and we service every other month instead of the traditional quarterly routine. Even commercial properties have tailored services.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
If you had asked me this last year, when I had a regular job, my definition would have been different. Now, as an entrepreneur, I see it as someone who pursues new business opportunities by making calculated decisions with the potential for significant reward, even in the face of uncertainty. It’s about actively assessing risks, taking action to mitigate them, and embracing the possibility of failure in pursuit of innovation and growth.
One of the biggest risks I’ve faced is being a one-man army, competing against much larger companies, and staying mentally grounded through it all.
This entire year has been a risk—filled with failures and some rewards. Marketing has been one of the riskiest areas for me. I’ve lost a significant amount of money learning who to trust and who to avoid. But taking those risks has also opened doors for my business to grow and introduced me to people I never thought I’d meet.
Entrepreneurship requires a willingness to be humbled more often than not. While I haven’t reaped all the rewards yet, I’ve seen the goodness that comes from being patient and trusting that, in time, the returns will show.
