Hi Elle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
dubose was created by Elle Dubose Moe, an advanced injector, skin practitioner, and registered nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN, BSN). With her expertise in both neurotoxin treatments and skin care, Elle developed dubose to address gaps she identified in the skincare industry. Focused on providing accessible products and education, she chose to tackle one specific area of weakness at a time, prioritizing high-quality solutions. As an expert in neurotoxin and other injectable treatments, Elle noticed that the market for topical, non-invasive wrinkle prevention products was lacking in effectiveness. Determined to improve this, she developed dubose to offer advanced, top-tier products for wrinkle prevention, aligning with her professional standards and expertise in skincare.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has been anything but smooth for Elle.

1. Starting completely in the dark and overcoming uncertainty – Elle didn’t wake up one day with a clear blueprint to build her company. She started by doing side research while she was full time injecting and used her own money to test and analyze products, discovering that what she needed for her clients actually didn’t exist. This meant she had to forge her own path, taking risks and facing unknown challenges without fully understanding how difficult the road would be. The uncertainty and the need to build her company in silence (she didn’t even tell her own husband), away from external influence, made the journey all the more challenging.

2. Manufacturing setbacks and delayed product launch: A significant struggle came when Elle had to pull the revolutionary product, known as le lait, from production in 2024. Despite the setback, this has now turn into a full-circle moment as the product is now set to launch Spring of this year. The manufacturing issues that caused the delay were a significant hurdle in her business journey, but Elle’s perseverance in bringing the product to fruition highlights her commitment to getting it right, even if it meant facing delays, major monetary loss and challenges along the way.

3. Fighting gender bias and building respect in the business world: As a female in the medical and business world, Elle encountered the challenge of being underestimated and overlooked, particularly in her early career. She often found herself (the “little blonde girl”) at the table, facing resistance from those who tried to take advantage of her due to her outward appearance. The biggest challenge, however, was staying true to herself and her feminine leadership style while demanding respect in a male-dominated space. This experience pushed her to continually assert her intelligence, skills, and capabilities, refusing to let anyone undermine her authority.
